What is an Exalted Orb? :)

It was insane luck, I invested them in my witch, then devaluation started and got back only 3ex after selling that gear, which I invested in my ranger. And with ranger, luck disappeared, I hardly get alchs and chaoses, hadn't got a fucking gcp in last couple of days (although I play 3-6 hours per day). Kinda funny, when I was rich, everything was so expensive, now, when things got cheap, I'm broken.

It feels like there was some stealth nerf of currency drop rate, but probably I was just lucky back then.

I would guess the latter. I have found a total of 3 exalts since OB started and I have several characters in maps (highest 86) and at least a dozen in the 30-60 range.

If you want to progress self found with a lower power build, that is an entirely different complaint. I've found that this is often the real complaint of people who think self found is broken or whatever: they not only want to limit themselves to self found, they also want to limit themselves to hipster builds that deliberately avoid powerful skills.

To be honest, this game does promote (on the surface) hipster skill builds due to how their massive passive skill tree is designed, along with the gem system. Blaming people for doing something that the game intends (or advertises) to do isn't really a complaint.

The whole point of the game is to promote these "hipster" builds, and Chris did state that solo play was meant to be as viable as party game play
Some "hipster" builds, as it were, simply require more gear. Get the gear before you try said build.

I've got several pages of uniques, and several of interesting items that I cannot wait to eventually try and make something out of. Some builds are more item dependent than others. In this case, it's usually better to get said items first :)

I do the exact same thing, and I still hit brick walls, like my latest molten shield/discharge build, which I ended up getting 3 uniques (supreme truth, vols armor, khaoms ring) before doing the build

Still hit a brick wall at level 60

Know the feeling. Making a multistrike flicker terminus est crit power charge build. I know it won't be super effective, but I am doing it because I can

found 2 exalts before lvl 34 and bunch of chaos GCP and loads smaller currency.
found a 70% roll andvarius blessed it made it perf sold for 3.5 ex

I think I had found like 10-15 exalts in equivalent before lvl 45.
All on my 1st HC char.

I just died a 52 due to shitass dsync but I am gonna reroll and I'm sure I find lots of goodies again.

In short; its all RNG I found my 1 exalted and GCP on terraces at a race event. Good luck finding stuff!

Now remove trading from that little equation. The equivalent value is worthless to those that are stating that trading is TOO emphasized in PoE, sure it's not hard to get geared up if you trade for the uniques that enable some fast levelling builds etc (lowlife ek/totems)

But FFS... If you base everything on the trading economy, the game becomes a lesson in trade to prepare to have fun as opposed to play to have fun.

In my opinion its not much of an effort, at least not in HC, you found 11 alchs running around?
Go to trade say "WTS 11 alchs for 5 Chaos" (make it 11 for a fast trade 10 takes longer its the normal price)
if you didnt catch anyone the 1st time try it a bit more, you are bound to have a buyer within 5-10 times of spamming chat.

You REALLY dont like to trade? Save up all your currency. Offer 36 alchs and some fusings or whatever for 1 Exalted. Or make it 85 alchs for 2 Ex.

You can even make a thread here for WTS/WTT and if you aint lowballing its easy with minimum effort.
Or make it 80 alchs for 2 Ex.

It is a game, trading is part of it, it is up to you how much time you want to invest in it.
But if you want to bypass trading completely, well then it is just your own fault if you never get any high currency.
It is ENDGAME currency because they don't drop a lot.
If everybody got catered and got more Exalted drops then the PoE economy will go to shit.

Only thing I agree on is that currency drop penalties for higher lvl's should be tweaked/ tuned down. More lower currency drops and just a tad more medium currency drops. a tad.

Wrong, exalts are the game main currency (or "gold"), people sell lvl 44 sh1t items for 1 exalt.

3 comes from drop and 3 because of a lucky andvarius drop some time ago.

looks like a stack of gold coins, used like a stack of gold coins, what's that line about ducks?

Trading ducks is naturally a hobby for some folks, but far more would prefer to just eat the damn things.

GRINDING fu*king GEAR GAMES... its in their name damn it... 65% of my chaoses are from vendor recipes (the items for which I GRIND), 30% are from trade (because I follow the trade chat!) and 5% I found (because I GRIND)... If you expect something else, farewell!

Havent found exalt since alpha (got only one Divine, and several GCP), and have over 15 days playtime (lots of them spent in the trade chat, when I relax from fighting)...

I have wasted 2 exas already, currently have 4 (all bought or traded), 53 chaos, 62 alch and probably about 10 more ex in different currency... Get your Rarity & Quality gear and do what the game requires you to do! I know I'm faaaar away from the really rich people in the game, but I must be able to get good enough gear for the higher level maps...

Stop crying and play!
