Please explain the "Make an offer" mentality...

If a fish (someone who doesn't how to play well, generally new) joins the table, everyone loves it. But over time, you learn and won't be a fish anymore. That's just the nature of the game.

It's not quite like being a fish. A fish knows that three aces are better than two fives. In PoE, the new or casual player does not only not know the difference between a flush and a pair, but people deliberately tell him that the pair is better.

Personally, I don't find the "it's fine to get ripped off since you'll eventually rip off others" mentality appealing, but then again, I don't mind doing a bit of research, either. I prefer to be a dolphin rather than a whale who thinks he's a shark, though. :)

Actually, on a second thought, let's meet in an online Poker room?
If you have an item with fairly high demand and:

A) Don't know the price of your own item
or
B) Think the average customer won't know the price of your item

it is always to your advantage from a rational perspective to ask them to offer. You lose nothing, as you can always turn down a lowball, but can gain a great deal.

It's really that simple. At least people act rationally here, unlike selling alts for 20:1 chaos when you can vendor them for 2.5 fusings.

Man you cant compare your local dealership with a bunch of children in this game. Why you is this trading system a failure ? Because there are only children ... well most of the people who play the game. Every now and then you find someone when you make a too low offer he starts bartering with you. This is why in games there should be AH for the mindless kids cuz they have obviously no idea how to barter.

Come at me bro ;O
Timezone: PST (California)
Let's say I have what is considered a "top tier" rare item, like a helmet or something, and when someone PM's me I say "offer" simply because 1) I'm not to sure on the price, but 2) I'm looking for serious buyers only.

When I say offer and some idiot says 3 chaos, for the best life base MF helm in the league then I just ignore him and don't deal with him.

[Removed by Admin] Kids would literally PM me and say "how much" for an item I posted in trade, when literally, RIGHT INFRONT OR AFTER THE FUCKING ITME, I LIST THE PRICE. I mean, it's UNBELIEVABLE how little reading kids do nowadays. They see the item, yet fail to see 1 millimeter after it to see the price listed?

Kids are going to lowball no matter what. They want to make profit. Half of the people buying shit aren't doing it because they want to use it, they only ask you how much for your items to see if they can lowball you and sell for profit.

Yes, it's truly sad. No one plays the actual fucking game, they play the trade market. Kids sit in trade all fucking day long making a chaos or 2 off an exalt every hour or so because the high end mappers who go into trade just need quick exchanges, where-as these fuckers sit in trade all god damn day long with nothing else to do and they wait when no one else at the moment is selling exalts or something and then they offer a complete lowball amount of chaos.

You want the "offer?" people to stop saying that? How about havin people stop lowballin first lol. Asking someone to offer, is a good way of testing them to see if they are serious or not. A real buyer is going to offer a decent amount because he actually wants the item to use.. [Removed by Admin]

Trading is terrible in this game. But the community makes it that way. Lols.

I have buyouts for all my items and they show up fine on XYZ.

BUT STILL...70% of buyers will ask "HOW MUCH????"

They know exactly how much, they are not even the slightest bit confused. They are just assholes. Like so many others in this game.

You shouldn't say "offer", you should hold an auction and clearly write out the c/o.

If 3 chaos is the only offer you've received at that point, then 3 chaos is the c/o.
