Reflect Damage
I've been playing since closed beta, and frankly, I'm sick of reflect damage in this game. DPS vs HP in POE is scaled insanely over top on the DPS side. I'm sick of the pass/fail situations, and would like real gameplay.
I can kill reflect mobs, if I can see them and handle them accordingly. But, after opening a box and scanning for reflect mobs, I die instantly (couldn't see ground effect on reflect mob) Rock things crawl out of ground, I die to reflect (no ground effect visible) FPS loss in group maps, I die to reflect mob. Desync to other room, I die to reflect mob. Can't utilize leech from gear (only phys attack), my spell build fails to reflect. SO I GUESS I SHOULD JUST MAKE A PHYS/LEECH/VP BUILD LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. I do agree - reflects are pretty dangerous in this game, but you know what - for me it's part of the fun.
Indeed i know several ways to avoid them completely (instant leach, RF, or let's say my mage's incinerate build with high fire resist and damage absorption via Arctic armour) But since for me game is more about having fun - I'm just trying to deal with reflects 'manually'. Really , remove reflects and most of decent close combat toons will be de-facto immortal. What fun is in playing in god-mod would be? I'm guessing not much. I used to play really tanky characters in the very beginning, trying to lvl up as safely as possible, etc. But it's just boring. So nowadays i play glass cannons on purpose. It's harder and IMHO much more fun, since you actually need to look at the screen time to time ;))) I don't say other ppl can't have different approach and opinion - beauty of this game is - you can do whatever you want. Why do you keep bumping this? All it does is make it look like you are bad at the game if you can't cope with the only thing in the game that gets people to throttle down their damage to be more inline with their defenses.

Reflects are dangerous and fun. It was frustrating the first few (dozens of) times I died to one, but now I can manage easily. I don't run insta-leech, but I do have a cwdt with enduring+immortal, which means I will get 0 damage every other hit (much needed at 1.9k life, because two reflected hits kill me). Together with popping an eternal life flask (you can't be asleep of course) and my more or less average life leech, I can even have a direct shoot-out with most reflecting mobs till they're dead. Haven't died to one in weeks, and killed dozens. I was running a granite flask for a while too, but that's just overkill security. And I assume insta-leech (Vaal Pact or Atziri's Acuity) would almost solve the problem completely. So yeah, phys reflect are supposed to be the hard counter to my class. They are still dangerous if I'm not paying attention, but I assume every class is supposed to have it's strengths and weaknesses (for some classes, the weakness would be "costs 300 ex to equip"). Smart counter-measures and/or compromises in the build are the way to go. |

If you're sick of the way reflect affects your character, roll up a character that's less bothered by it. You're not restricted to a single character.

The more i play, the more issues i have with reflect. Every major patch make our chars more and more powerfull, while defenses start to not get in line with our damage output.
I mostly play elemental builds so i can't count on cwdt + ic combo. ele damage we receive is totally retarded in the game as a whole, and it includes reflect. We don't have the choice but the be at 75% resist on all 3 types, but it feels so useless sometimes. +max resists got destroyed recently, combined to a real lack of HP nodes on the top right side of the tree. My DPS is not overkill at all, but when i hit a pack with lvl 20 purity of my element + flask and die instantly, i don't see what i can do more. 15% reflect as an aura is most of the time manageable, as we can hit some non reflect mobs on the side to heal, but 18% reflects maps are just not possible for me right now. Life leech is reserved to physical attacks mostly. The leech gem + vaal pact combo is stupid because it feels mandatory and boring. Spells don't have LoH unless we have Cybil, which is not that impressive without incinerate anyway. We had several solutions with some friends : -Straight out nerf reflect value, which is not a really elegant solution. -Make the reflect act as life leech : damage reflected could cap at a % of our HP pool/sec. -Give us the possibility to overleech : afaik right now if we hit a 100 HP mob with a 1K hit, we got 15%(or 18% for map mod) reflected back while we can only leech for the value of the mob HP (100 in that case). It wouldn't save us for one shots unless we run VP, but could help. -Just remove this lazy boring mechanics that bring nothing but cheap difficulty, but that s always a debatable thought.
