Damage reflection is death for witches

"Reflects Elemental Damage" is going to be the number 1 killer of witches in 0.9.3. Apparently GGG decided to get together and ask each other how they could cause glass cannons to shit themselves. Well, guys, you did it- this thing is absolutely brutal. Turns DPS into suicide. If you have tankers, then the only thing you can do is hit the health pots while limiting your damage. If you don't, especially if the enemies have extra speed, you're pretty much doomed unless you teleport...

Oh wait! The teleport skill does damage now!

If my HC Witch makes it to Ruthless, I'm going to just go "All my nope" and hit Town Portal when I see that aura.

Gotta be careful if running through low level areas too. You can kill yourself in an instant on the otherwise harmless monsters if you're not paying attention.

Spells with a duration can also be brutal. If you stack a bunch of firestorms on a group, and then a fast reflection boss runs in from off-screen, it's goodnight.

I like the fact that it forces you to diversify into other types of damage (eg minions), or slowly wear them down in bursts, using the recharging energy shield to avoid ever losing life.
What if they have reflect damage aura and regenerating health aura? Or... the energy shield aura?

It's intended that some fights just can't be won.

Imagine having a group of blues that have +run speed, being boosted by 2 rare auras: +run/attack speed and +significant damage (or accuracy/crit chance). It'll hurt; even a tanky marauder will have problems with those combos.

If your caster is having problems with the aforementioned aura combo, you should probably think about getting some supporting abilities like minions. You could also do something like use Frost Wall to split up the rares or just to slow them down so you can get the hell out of there.

In my opinion reflect of 20% of the physical damage they receive is too much. 5% or 10% is quite enough especially at high levels of the game. It can be fun on normal difficulty but in HC difficulty will not be that fun ^^

Reflect dmg shouldnt exist ,its not fun in a game where you are fighting vs 30 monsters at one time.
Instead of going fast peaceed battle you will waste time and check if some of those mobs dont have the dmg reflect aura ,cause there is no real counter tactic for it created in game.

Like i said before ,make twitch reflex requiement instead of giving brainless powerfull stats to bossses.
It will at least have some counter ,you will fight with your player skill to survive.
Now its just question for player ,fight or not to fight ,its nowhere superb development achievement for GGG at all.
Sinece there is no player skill involved in it ,its just limited to checking if the boss have the aura or not ,and checking if you have the stats to survive or not.

So if you are willing to give some auras to bosses ,give it some tactic ,counter or player skill requiements.

Good example in diablo were shamans ,you need to kill them first or they will just ressurect everything around you ,with is ofc pain in the arse.

For example here we could have boss that summon few monsters ,each of those summons reduce dmg done on the boss by some %. When all of those summons are alive ,the boss is basicaly immortal ,so you would need to clean some of them first ,would require some skill from polayer since the boss would respawn the support ones while ofc trying to attack you.


So in conclusion ,instead of giving brainlessly brute stat boost auras to bosses ,give some tactical/counterattack mechanic to with player could react propertly.

Also, do resists reduce the damage you take from your own reflected spells?
I am ok with the damage reflection. As long as...

1) Your resists and armour apply to reflected damage
2) The aura effect is pretty clear (most of them are. This isn't much of an issue)
3) The insane auras are never on a compulsory enemy.

It would help if it wasn't 20%, too. 20 is very high for reflection. 5% would make more sense. 10 at the most. Remember that these are AoE auras, so 20% reflect on 5 mobs with an AoE spell is equivalent to you attacking yourself in PvP. Much too high.
