Damage reflection is death for witches

Actually, here's a solution if you want people to stop spamming one thing. Break up the aura into Reflects Fire, Cold, Lightning. Maybe break up the physical aura into Reflects Sharp and Reflects Bludgeoning. Witches specialized in one of these won't like it, but at least they have something to switch to besides Town Portal.

Sounds better than town portal .
Getting insta killed by all reflecting buff without a weakness is hmm, owerpowered for HC. Unless you arent paying attention.
So i like Slicers suggestion better.

How many people complaining about this have actually encountered it in the game? How many people have done the math to see how the 20% damage compares to your life/energy shield totals? It sounds to me like a lot of people are bitching about something without having 1st-hand knowledge.

I've run into the elemental reflection aura dozens of times, and I have not ONCE been insta-killed, or anything close to it. This includes level 40+ play with a witch specializing in heavy lightning damage. I've also never run into a combination of auras that I couldn't defeat, with 1 exception that was mostly due to unbalance monster damage in the alpha.

There is a thing called "balance" that is very important to GGG. There is no reason to remove the aura when they can simply balance it with average player health and damage. Your life goes up as you level up. As a witch, you should have high energy shield to mitigate the damage that's being reflected at you.

Community: "Give use more strategic and tactical play so it's not a massive damage spamfest."
GGG: *adds rare auras*
Community: "WTF, now we have to be careful to not spam massive amounts of damage?!"

I love the new auras, including the damage reflect ones.

Game now is more engaging - when I see an aura I have to quickly think about it and how to engage the pack. Much better than in 92, all I did then was spam shock nova over and over and over and over.

Before you ask, I've encountered both pysycial reflect and magic reflect auras.

People are just angry they can no longer pimp their shock nova witch solopwnmobile to coast through the game.

Easy mode's over folks! Adapt or die.

Funny picture =)

It's true for most companies, but being a GameDesigner myself i can assure you, they do care about the HC gamers. They do care so much, that from a GameDesigners perspective its extremely risky.

Sad thing is... most hardcoregamers dont have money. Most of them are hardcore because they have the time to be hardcore. Which means they are either retired millionairs, seniors, highschoolers or college students.

The firstgroup doesnt care for money but is very rare. The second gives their money to televangelism and the last 2 groups just dont have much money to spare. :p

F2PGames almost solely survive on CasualPlayers and for those... there's lots of work to do, before they'll actually start to like the game.

Luckily this kind of work doesn't need to interfere with the HC nature of the game. It's just a matter of presentation, tutorials, social features and tidying up the interface even more.

Being a hardcore player myself i'd say... give the casuals what they need to enjoy this game. They will be the one financing it after all. And i'd rather have a PoE with slight Casualness, instead of none at all.

I've encountered it more than once. The latest time, I was in some lag, and my client didn't know the aura boss was around, just a few blood apes. My health globe started dropping unexpectedly and so I cast novas to get out of there- and I had a health globe way, way too close to empty. "Oh crap, it's another elemental reflect!"

Note to witches: Whenever your health starts dropping and you don't know what it is, it's one of these things.

I don't know what game you're playing, WhiteBoy, or what your concept of a high-damage witch is, but I can't have enough eshield to stop from killing myself unless I dramatically throttle my damage output.

I think he meant hardcore as in the hardcore league where death is permanent (sends you back to default league).

My "concept" is Spark and Shock Nova with every lightning and spell damage passive I can reach, along with very high spell crit chance from passives and gear. Over +150% spell/lightning damage on wands, a little more lightning damage on gear. Pretty much as high spell/lightning damage and crit chance as possible.

If you can possibly 1-shot yourself with 20% of your damage, you've seriously gimped your defensive abilities (energy shield, health, resistances). Again, that's not the aura's fault. It's your fault for over-specializing in pure damage.

With the picture I just wanted to make a joke regarding Chris' comments about how fun it will be to be obliterated by strong aura combinations. I actually agree with him.

edit: and yes, of course by HC I meant the hardcore league.
Disregard witches, aquire currency.

White boy is correct, if you can 1-shot yourself by attacking a mob with a 20% reflect shield, you have simply invested much to heavily into +damage.

Happy hunting/fishing
Who the heck attacks "a" mob?

We're talking about a boss aura and Shock Nova. You don't hit "a" mob. You hit all of them. If you don't see the aura due to lag and you maximize your damage on a group of enemies, it's really, really easy to kill yourself in one hit.

Maybe in the late game, you can have 1k+ eshield, but then your max damage is in the stratosphere and you'll plow right through it.
