I always get curious about that too, and look at post histories only to realize whatever they have posted that earned the temp ban would have been removed.

But you know, I really wouldn't mind if they took a much stronger stance on forum attitudes. So many people, notably some of these Old Guard you refer to, seem to do nothing but make lazy, useless, noncontributing one line posts in every thread that pops up. There are people on the internet that will never understand how to have a real conversation and will defend to the death the most brazenly asinine behaviour merely because they don't want to see it. They have nothing better to do and the forum is just another type of game to them.

If put on probation three times = banned from forums forever but can still play the game, I'd be alright with that.

The problem is that most people are incapable of explaining clearly with valid arguments why they are wrong. Most of the times I just see the usual accusations, like: "whiner" or "just stop playing the game".
I believe people have reasons for everything they do, and if you can't see those reasons, the problem is also on your end. You don't have to agree with them, but at least understand.

It's the responsibility of those who think are better than others to lead the way, not offend them.

I dont know if I'd put it that way, while there are certainly some like that, most just stop trying because you know some people arent here to be reasonable.

there are many who create blatant flaming topics who go on and on and on for pages and pages because the moderators dont do their job or have their hands tied (like in cases where guy says game is now pay to win with zero evidence, absolute bullshit reasoning, and blatant lying, and the thread goes on for 40 pages if needed because the moderators either dont do their job or have a situation where they feel if they do the proper course of action they'll be labeled as abusing their powers by these abusive topic creators.

Look at it like this, how do you distinguish these poisonous people from genuinely retarded individuals? Moderators dont wanna be the guys who uses force on someone mentally handicapped. Its not their fault they are mentally handicapped. You dont treat someone with this type of disability the same way you do a normal person.

and then when someone calls them out, the moderators hit them instead because they cannot foster an ambient of hostility.

What I think moderators dont seem to realize is that they are putting not only themselves, but the whole community at the mercy of these people who, lets be honest here, are retards, but not mentally handicapped.

btw, when realizing this state of the forums there are a lot of people that start joking around or just being weird, its a way to cope.

For that matter:

I really miss solwitch, no one will ever capture the genius of his threads, some called him a troll, I think he was not one, and his threads certainly brought more life to GD than any other. positive life.
I can only wish him best, wherever he is.

Basically what you're saying is that some people are retards because they disagree with you. If you have good arguments to convince them they are wrong, go ahead and present them. In a civil manner, without offending anyone.

If it's true that they don't listen what you have to say, it's also true that you don't listen to what you have to say. Like I said above: if you think you are better than them, show them the better way ; )

No, there are people can easily be talked to, but there are people who are genuinely here to start things, if you havent run into one, I can only wish for that RNG to continue
