Why is the Old Guard on probation?

well, Ill try to explain it better now while also responding to hilbert.

You see, there are poisonous trolls who definitely seem to want to start things up, those are actually just a few, a few that can be counted on a hand or two for those caring to count them. Maxthelimit said it well on antagonizing and the ambient it creates. I apologize, I did not mean to imply everyone is like that, that would be idiotic.

Now why I liked solwitch? Its because while he posted those kinds of threads, the way he worded it made it hard to understand if he was serious, and, the fact that he (at least to my knowledge) didnt try to antagonize others in his threads.

His writings had a strange english, but with a certain balance that I do not see often, he wasnt bad enough to be considered just some underage kid nor did it strike exactly as someone who had a different language (though this might have been the case, but the way he structured it really made me wonder about his native one).

This is why I dont consider him just a troll. His threads seem to fall under PoE's law (typo intended), and he definitely made it more interesting. It was worth a chuckle.

1. Never been probated, probably because I am boring. I don't consider myself part of the old guard though.
2. Some Solwitch threads were funny, others were not. Overall, I was amused more often than annoyed by the average Solwitch thread.

How long are the probations usually? Anyone knows?

They're somewhat cumulative. Your first is a few hours, then a day, couple days, a week, a month, banned.

My post count dropped off substantially after 1.0. I grew tired of condescending one line rebuttals to my reasoned responses, so I simply stopped posting.

I lost count the number of times ad hominem's were used to belittle or discredit my responses to whinges that to my comprehension were because the OP was not informed. Things where people don't discuss the content of the message or thread topic but dismiss responses by attacking the poster are really bad for the forum environment. These are the types of posts that should be actively discouraged.

Other times, I see topics that have literally no productive or useful information, yet they attract all sorts of attention and views. There's no point contributing to festering wounds like that, as all it would do is open me up to more attacks or I would end up using attack posts myself because there is literally nothing being discussed. These are the types of threads that should be removed.

Ironically, I used to consider myself a threadkiller, as my longish, rational, and reasoned responses used to stop some threads in their tracks because there is no rebuttal to factual information. Those are rewarding to me in a fashion, but it doesn't buy me any 'forum fame', because dead threads don't get read. =/

Edit:

@Garr0t
The unconstructive postings are the long versions of "L2P newb u suck" in gameplay help/feedback.
If you ask some quitter what is the worst thing he experienced you will mostly hear elitism of the community.

Just remember a longer race which was supposed to be Softcore only at first.
The announcement thread was full of elitism and "Softcore/10" "Scrubcore" postings.

They added up earlier:

2 days, 3 days, 5days, 6 days, 10 days, 14days, 20 days, 30 days and 30 Days chaining for months.

Now the level offense will most likely be also be considered. Somebody I never heard of used a quiet antisemitic reddit level slur and is still on probation.(Other postings were in trade threads)

Simple Spamthread/Gravediggering--> 2 days(at last that's what some of the recent probations were one guy has been probated several times the other didn't)

It more likely that repeated small offenses won't end up more than a 14 day probation anymore like that guy who said "Fuck off" after being heavily provocated and received a 30 day probation because he was probated ~10 times already.

Actually the new guidelines must be there with something like a punishment table.

Of those "old guards" one certainly got his probation extended for temp-ban evasion.

banned.

The only ones banned for forum activities were posting links to malware, Accountstealpms or were posting porn/photoshopped porn with a devhead added, attempted PM RMT and Betakeyfraud.

Basically accounts with an age of <1 month.

I think non devs with (_)GGG(_) in their account were forced to change their account name because the fake accounts were named something like GGG_Accountservice or Acccountsercive_GGG

You only need to post a CB Demigod in an active forum or some Top tier reward and within the next days you receive PMs from alts with laughable RMT attempts.
Good thing PMs have a report button now.

^ Nope. You're wrong. There's been forum bans for stuff other than hacks or 'shopped dev pics.

No you can look at the threads when they still exist

Porn(removed by the user mods)
Impersonating a Dev(pms)
Malware/spambots(mostly deleted)
Betafraud(like the 11211 guy)
RMT attempts via PM.

All other bans had reasons because of chargebacks and ingame activity such as botting.

You can PM me examples of people who think got banned for forum activity.

Even the first ban ever in CB was some guy wanting a Rollback or his character restored and charged his money back, when Chris said it won't happen.

You can be certain that most bans were all related to botting. The first bots were pretty much all detected because they opened like every chest in every instance+ Full clear.
Just like that Chinese guy who wanted to:"try a bot for 10 minutes and claimed his bot was racially motivated"

Again, you are wrong. I cant name them. Whatever, i'm done trying to convince you otherwise. Ask support.
