Sorry, but if you are playing BV Pathfinder, there is no skill involved.

But is BV really the problem, or is it the way BV interacts with Pathfinder to produce more or less infinite flask charges?

Both, to some degree.

the true problem IS and ALWAYS HAS BEEN - instant leech

remove instant leech (in all forms) from the game and suddenly most of the broken idiotic stuff is gone

this one f.. keystone (and few items) ruin any resemblance of being serious about game design ggg tried to make

BV is new to me as this is my first league since tempest, my first and only impression of BV is "wow, that looks really strong.. and boring"

I mean, I had fun playing cycloner in tempest league which isn't so much different playstyle (you're just moving around on top of things), but I dunno, BV just doesn't appeal to me.

Not Vaal Pact or Vinktar for sure - they are not even close to what Blade Vortex does on it's own.

with instant leech people do not really need to worry about defences. the Sponge build is just that - buffer + instant leech

and the only way to kill The Sponge is one-shot of absurd proportions. we do like one-shots dont we?

one-shot meta is a product of vaal pact being in the game. try to replicate tanking Shaper without instant leech.

if we nerf BV we will get yet another meta skill with no-brain needed and all the damage in the world. and it will be the same.

kill Vaal Pact. kill it with fire. it would open SO MANY currently impossible gamedesign spaces.. and free us from the bullshit we've all just seen linked in the OP.

you can replicate that with very fast attack skill (replacing BV), you can replicate it with enough leech from the tree/items (replacing Vinktars) but you cannot replicate it without vaal pact.

BV is fine pathfinder is not.
