Legacy league thoughts

Anyone else horribly unsatisfied with Legacy league?

I haven't seen a single relic key. I have a level 71 and an 85 - yeah that's not best, but as a casual player I expect to be able to experience league content.. and IMO a chest that drops 1C Uniques 99% of the time... should not be Exalt+ rare for a last hurrah themed league.

League stones are underwhelming. Most maps I can't tell if I have them equipped or not unless I find a breach or a Perandus chest. And decent rare league stones are less likely to drop than unique items or chaos orbs.

The lack of decent Zana mods has removed the biggest Chaos sink from the game. As a result of the lack of a sink, gear priced in exalts may as well not exist for your average player that isn't selling drops via third parties. Also, can anyone explain why facing spiders is worth 6C?

If anyone has tips on what sort of item quantity or item rarity numbers are required to experience the content that was promised with this league, I would be interested.

If the only way to experience this league is to enjoy 5 or so maps after grinding out 100 maps for drops, then yeah.. I'm done.

Yeah this is literally the first league I won't be doing 40/40 way too fucking boring I'm hoping expansion redeems it.

I definitely agree with you on that the central theme of this league is practically absent. leaguestones only having a minor effect like "contains a rogue exile" or torment "contains a tormented spirit" aren't what I consider fun. Its pretty boring unless you are running specific combinations or the rarer leaguestones and thats where it becomes apparent that legacy league even exists. To give you an example of how rare keys are, I have found in drops about 2-3x more exalts in RAW drops than keys. The drop rates for the things people were so excited for are so rare in the league people are dropping like flies. I would like to see at least a slight increase in key drops, it isn't as though the % for a decent relic is significant anyway.
Only about 6 of the stones are actually useful or impactful.

WTF is prophecy invasion and rampage? If anything, it's just a reminder of how terribad most of the prior leagues were.

It seems like the key drops vary...like a lot, almost more than I would just say "RNG is RNG". I've found 3 exalts and I just found my 7th key today. Other people say they have found 2-3x as many exalts as keys. Seems kind of crappy that a lot of people probably won't ever get to even experience one unless they buy one (and are subsequently grossly disappointed when a taryns shiver drops).
I have to say I largely agree that the league is pretty underwhelming. The central tenets of the OP - keys might as well not exist; leaguestones are largely so bland as to not be active; Zana mods are terrible and as the prime chaos sink, giving nobody a reason to run them has shot the prices of high end stuff up - are all spot on. It seems to me that either GGG was absolutely terrified of "item inflation" in this league or is so wrapped up in making 3.0 that they spent zero time playtesting this league.

The leaguestones are particularly obnoxious. Its not so much that blue leaguestones don't drop enough (they don't) its that the white leaguestones suck so bad. I mean I cannot fathom who thought add one rogue exile, add an extra silver bearing monster or add one dude holding a shit tier-1 talisman were things anyone would be excited to play. I suppose its a curse of heightened expectations, I certainly believed this league would be a crazy, thrill-a-minute extravaganza where we explored the best of prior leagues - similar to the races where they'd turn on "x" number of leagues and you'd have some seriously crazy shit going on. Instead there's only a couple of white stones that impact the scene enough that you really care they're on, the best leagues only drop even white much more rarely than the boring ones and everything feels less exciting than the old Zana mods.

I mean, there are some really cool possibilities, which GGG obviously figured out, since they made them happen on some blue stones. When you get the mod that has rogue exiles drop corrupted gear you're super excited to run into those dudes, when you get the mod that has a random prophecy on the zone plus the monkey is there to give you another extra prophecy, you actually don't vendor it immediately, etc. That's what the league should feel like all the time! Extra pressure from difficulty you can't entirely control with the extra rewards that go along with it. This is what Breach encapsulated so well - the extra quantity and rarity in breaches is palpable and makes you excited to pop them BUT they can be super rippy, particularly if your build isn't fully fleshed out yet, and there are certain builds that struggle clearing them (looking at you, pizza sticks) so its not just a loot pinata. Going from that to a league that feels like standard most of the time really makes the league feel lackluster. I mean some of these leagues were obviously going to suck without some dressing (onslaught, prophecy, rampage because they don't do enough; nemesis sucks but because of the .000000001 chance of getting a headhunter its interesting; stuff like ambush, domination, torment and bloodlines also suck because they were folded into the base game, mostly ages ago, so they don't actually feel any different when socketed than rolling a mapmod.) I guess the idea was somehow that even though ambush, domination and bloodlines are dull when you put them all together, awesomesauce! But it isn't, it just feels like bog standard PoE.

As far as the keys, enough virtual ink has been spilled on the topic but yeah, its basically like they aren't part of the league. I've gotten two characters to red maps and seen one key. Given what they did with the drop rate of anything worthwhile in the reliquaries, I'd certainly like to see them drop a lot more often. But they weren't the main selling point for me on this league, so I'm not going to lose sleep over them.

I still hold out some hope that GGG will realize that this league has a lot of unrealized potential and either buff the white stones or greatly increase the droprate on blues. (And honestly, I think a lot of the dull stones need a pass even on the blues - getting 7 charges of one extra strongbox isn't anymore exciting than 5, for example.) But if it stays as is, I think its going to be really hard to justify still playing this league a couple weeks from now. Really disappointing, especially after how nice a job they did with breach.
I have found 5 keys so far. I play an non-meta medium clear speed oro build. I am having fun in SC legacy. Just bought 28 Shaped Shore maps yesterday to go all yolo with my crazy beyond/breach leaguestone combinations. (115/126 on atlas for anyonewondering).

Also beyond stone of 40% chance to spawn mobs is just nuts.

This is the farthest I have gotten in any league -aiming for 36 challenges. Lots of fun. Probably going to row a ranger if I ever get ROTC legacy :/

Idea of this league is the league Stones that give you free nice mods on maps. Keys are just rare bonus. And fuck zana mods. You can have wayyy better mods with leaguestone. Atleast i prefer having 3 breches with 25% inc monster density and additonal magic packs and nemesis with extra mobs.
Anyway rng is rng. Go cry to the rng gods.

Not I.

But I generally consider myself a Standard player at heart, so among forum posters, I'm a tiny minority.
