[3.11] Brittleknee’s SRS Necromancer - Reliable, Beginner-Friendly. All content. Harvest Ready!

One more question - one thing I've never been able to figure is how exactly do the old cobalt jewel bonuses (flat "minions deal % increased damage"), compare to the ghastly eye bonuses of added physical damage?

More importantly, if I have a choice between flat % added damage versus increasing the effectiveness of Hatred (mainly the 6% increased aura nodes), how on earth do I calculate the relative value?

See, with Aul's uprising, I would no longer reserve any mana, so the nodes I currently have allocated for reservation reduction would be dead (which is nice to reclaim), but it's tough to decide if it's better use the points saved to add another jewel socket with a flat minion damage bonus, or to still spend some of the recovered points on those 6% aura boost nodes.

It's almost impossible to get ghastly eyes with both minion damage abilities, life, and a resist of some sort, but cobalt jewels which offer a much nicer 7% life, plus some resists and the flat % minion damage boost, are fairly available (I currently use one, with the rest of my jewels being the recommended ghastly eyes).

Problem is I'm baffled as to how to compare the options - are they comparable at all, or are we dealing with vastly different damage potential? The layers of multiplicative damage addition are so damn opaque in this game sometimes.

Well, you can create and compare most of the items in Path of Building. Looks like in your case, perfectly rolled added physical damage increases DPS by 4.9%, 16% increased minion damage = 2.7% more DPS and 6% increased effect of auras = ~1.4% more DPS. On the other hand, +50 to maximum life and 7% increased maximum life are very comparable.

You could also consider attack/cast speed nodes around Precision. Your cast speed varies, as it depends on a few conditions, so maybe that's an issue in those boss fights? On a similar note - if you haven't checked it yet, maybe The Scourge used with Whirling Blades would work better for you in terms of mobility.

I meant to elaborate earlier: physical damage reduction in the character sheet usually represents some typical but not constant value, due to how armour works. The more physical damage you take, the less effective armour is, so sometimes you're better off putting your bet on evasion and risking taking it all anyway vs taking nothing.

What would you define as a "perfect roll" physical damage modifier? Do you just mean a high roll on the jewel stat (so a 17 if the range is 12-17)? or are you speaking more generally?

I mean the highest possible values, so 'Minions deal 17 to 26 additional Physical Damage'.
Brittleknee, look what they've done!

In reality, it will be okay. With less variation/freedom in the build, but still doable. We will endure.

This is fine!

I'm fine.

Good news! This was added to the bottom of the patch notes:

Raging Spirits, Raised Zombies, 'of the Grave' enchantment minions, and Spectral Spirits (from Essence of Insanity on a weapon) now have 100% more base accuracy rating than previously. Raging Spirits mana cost changes have been undone.

Looks like they undid the mana cost nerf! And good bye Lycosidae?

Certainly a win for us, today. I think they may or may not have been intentionally trolling RaizQT at this point.

Either way, the increase to baseline accuracy should, I think, remove the necessity of both Command of the Pit and Lycosidae. This means the build is even more approachable and the age-old complaint that SRS is an expensive minion for mediocre results may be a thing of the past. It also makes it MUCH more SSF Friendly!

Which also means I have EVEN MORE to update, so my original timeline of having the re-done guide done tonight.... yikes. I'm gonna stay up all night and do my best to get things done.

Grip of the Council is back I guess. Do get some sleep thou!
Does this mean that +3 staff becomes a good option again instead of one-hander + Lycosidae?
