Map sustain seems to be getting worse and worse?
A thread like this will always receive the usual amount of "L2P, map drops are fine!" responses. On this forum this "elite attitude" might seem the norm and obscure the actual reality, which is: red tier map drops are too low for any casual playing this game.
You have to spend all your currency to get the red maps you need for your attempt at red Elder or Shaper. But as a casual you don't want that, because you want to spend it on cool stuffz, things you can wear, things that stay and improve your character, instead of vaporize for the sake of 5-10 minutes of seeing again no good maps dropping. p.s. The first one replying to this with the braindead argument of "where then do these maps come from that are being sold?!" will receive a lecture about the statistical concepts of population size, probability and actual outcome. |

" I'll pass on the lecture. The maps come from the cartographer temple room. They drop like candy, to the point where I honestly wonder if too many maps drop from the temple. This isn't Bestiary where maps genuinely didn't drop. If you can't even click on chests full of red maps, then I don't know what to say. Try Facebook games, I guess? |

I haven't really noticed any issue with map sustain, but then I tend to splash about in the mid-tier.

" You cant expect common sense from people who complain the reason they fail is not having time. I play this game while working a full time job and family responsibilities. I can always get my builds going to their end game gear or at least good enough to make my general league challenges (All boss clear, full atlas completion, 36/40). Thew problem with these people who complain about time restraints and having to spend all their currency on maps is the fact that the little time they spend in game is poorly spent. They simply don't know how to play smart or speculate a few things that are common sense. You need currency this league? Well rather simple: use the league mechanic. The temple is a gold mine if done right. All my gear is bought out from temple profits. The corruption rooms (both items and gems) can be a huge payout if used correctly and have so knowledge about the current meta. The unique exchange room can either upgrade an item for profit using vials or give you a shot at a headhunter. The guy should get of his high horse about offering statistical education to people when he is so simple minded that he cannot comprehend and play a game economy to his advantage. My current characters /played is 4 days and a bit btw and the gear level is "cool stuff" you can wear. My atlas is at 133/157 and only because I have no traded for maps much yet (only a few times when I needed them for elder influence). I have not done yellow maps after day 5 of the league unless Elder influence demands it. If you are buying a map and don't get at least it's cost back (that can be across all maps you run on average) you are doing it wrong. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience."

" The last 3 temples I was not blessed with this "drop like candy" luck which you are talking about. RNGesus did not bless me with an upgrade of the map room at all, or I just could not connect to the room, or whatever. So please STOP trying to paint a picture of chests farting out endless supplies of red maps, while you actually have a good chance of having to run 44 incursions (equals 44 maps) before you get to see 1 or 2 of these chests, that - in my experience - drop a few maps (2-4), mostly white or yellow. |

" Like I mentioned in my previous comment the problem people have is simple. They do not know how to take advantage of the league mechanics and opportunities. You either. The mechanics were presented way before the league started. You knew this will be a speed meta. So the way to success starts from day one choices. In any league actually if you are like me and don't have a lot of time to play you should play a speed clear build. So it's quite simple to be successful in this league: - make a speed clear build and make your way to 80+ - focus on getting at least 100 Atlas completion: easy to do by doing all white and yellow maps. Zana sells plenty so check her every day after daily. - Do a T14 or T15 Incursion - late game T16 - Do all other incursions on T10 / T11+ Your speed clear build will allow you to clear all incursions easy with 20 sec leftover to allow you to link and upgrade all the rooms. The temple level formula is the following: All incursions average +4 levels but never highest than your highest done incursion. Hence the above advice about how to run them. The above will guarantee a level 81+ temple. Focus on the following rooms: - Cartographer whenever is available : Map sustain - Storage room: Can spawn map chests. - Both item and gem corruption rooms: they hive huge potential for profit Check the price of that item. It's RNG ofc and it took me 5 tries. All previous 4 gave me 3 white sockets. I also corrupted 5 20/20 arc's and while 4 bricked heard 1 went 21/20 vaal arc that still gained me a profit of 2 exalted after deducting the 4 20/20 arcs I bricked. The boss of the temple can be also a lucky break if a good item drops. The fast clear speed allows you to cycle fast trough all the maps and incursions required to open the temple and also the temple itself. The level 81+ of the temple makes sure all mobs can drop you red maps and high level unique. This league is by far one of the easiest ones to make bank and build a very powerful character. I repeat: the only reason a low play time player does not succeed in this league is that fact they are wasting that time and not being aware of what you can take advantage off. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience."

" Of course when you fear someone may counter argue your point you will use a PS implying non existent knowledge of statistics (google search does not count) and that that person should not answer at all unless they want you to lecture them. See what I did there? I stand by my statement that you are simple minded if you can't figure out what items will sell well and what rooms to upgrade to make currency and buy gear AND maps. I won't even go deeply in the discussion about time management if you are a casual. I'll just tell you this: If you know you have little time + this league was clearly advertised as a clear speed build you should know what you need to do to be successful. See my above post when I am giving you a lesson on how to succeed in this league. Free of charge or you can trade me a few chaos in game if it helps. "Never argue with an idiot. They will take you down to their level and beat you trough experience."

" You are right in every aspect other than the perspective. A casual player doesn't read patch notes before league is out, or at least doesn't analyze them properly. A casual player won't choose a build appropriate for the league mechanic because he either doesn't know great builds (he obviously also won't spend much time on forums other than for whining), or he doesn't want to play one. A casual wants to try out different builds, different skills, things that look or feel cool, not sticking to the most efficient strategy for a specific league, just because it's the best. Most of the time, it's not fun. A casual player doesn't know what specific items are worth. Not because he's simple-minded, but just because he's neither camping poe.ninja, nor does he know the meta-game because he seldomly watches streams and doesn't read forums a lot. A casual player simply isn't invested enough, maybe juggling between 2-3 games in his free time, which is not much either way. REGARDING ALL LISTED ABOVE a casual player still wants to see all the content, play highest tier maps after reaching them once, kill shaper, and have a couple of shots at uber atziri and uber elder. Well fuck. Edit: PS: I do agree btw that this league is one of the best leagues to get shinies and to sustain maps. It's just that most of the "advice" and time management stuff, everyone's talking about doesn't apply to casual gamers. It only applies to hardcore veterans that LOVE repetitive stuff, know all there is to know about the game, but for some reason have low amount of free time, so they can't no-life all day long. They should rename their company into "Grinding Maps Games".
Because map drop rates are beyond ridiculous. I know that in every ARPG you have to grind for gear, but PoE is the only one where you have to grind all the time to get access to endgame! IGN: MortalKombat
