6-linking is not worth it?
Hey guys, i tried poe many years ago, but basicly i started to play in Beasteary so i play like 4 month, not very long, that's why i wanna ask maybe very obvious question.
--------------------------------------------------------------- Why 6linked gear is so cheap? Is it? Let's do some quick maths! I am playing IHC. Current rates: fuse 1.8=1c, jew 7.4=1c. What you actually need to 6 link the item? 6 socket it with jews and after link them with fuses. So avarage attemp is 350jews and 1500fuses, with 20%q it's like 280 jews and 1200 fuses, cool. So jews will be 37.8c, fuses 666.6c. Now we know the avarage attemp to 6 link any item with 20q you need 704.4c or 11.74ex at the moment. ======================================================================================================= Now let's check the market. I basicly dont care about wich item it is, but we will check something that ppl like to use in their builds, so i will take impulsa and windripper cos they seem like popular. ====================================================================================================== Impulsa: avarage price: 39c, 20q+6linking it will be 39c+1c+704.4c=744.4c or 12.4ex is avarage attemp to craft 6 linked impulsa. Cheapest on market is 6.5ex atm, some of them 7.5ex, rly top rolled ones for 9 and 11ex. ======================================================================================================== Windripper: avarage price is 261c, again 261+1+704.4=966.4c or 16.1ex is avarage price to craft 6 linked windripper. Market: 11, 12 and 12ex.} ======================================================================================================= Yes sometimes you are lucky, you got your 6 link in 500 fuses, but let's think you are doing it long time. You found some gear and you linking it to sell, or buying decent rolls to spent your fuses and again- sell it. But according our calculations it's always just ridiculously more profitable to sell gear you find unlinked and sell just fusings/jews. And besides it's easier to sell this currency, than selling multiple ex items. Btw if you think buying lot of currency at once is easy you will be surpriced, i am pretty sure currency rates can be much worse if you will try to buy 1-2k fuses or jewelers at once. ======================================================================================================== I always thought it's cheaper to 6link items, and not buying, i tought it's profitable to link gear and sell it, but when i got all my links for now i checked the prices and realised that it's not true. Do i miss something? Am i wrong? Share your knowledge pls guys and sry for my english hope you can handle it! Последняя редакция: FoxMalder#5859. It's always going to be cheaper to trade for something that it is to make it yourself, or else people would simply be making them for sale and the market would have to adjust due to oversupply.

who said that 350 jew and 1500 fus are the average?
from the wiki: A test involving 100 000 Orb of Fusings concluded that 836 to 1244 (average 1000) Orb of Fusings are needed to six-link a six-socketed, 20% qualitied item with a 95% confidence interval.[1] This translates into a ~77% chance to six-link within 1500 Orbs of Fusing.[2] This means it is statistically not worthwhile to use the Artisan's Bench provided by Vorici instead of using Orbs of Fusing manually, but it is still an option to consider for risk-averse players to avoid randomness. Historically, lead developer Chris Wilson has stated that the odds for six linked sockets were very close to 1/1500.[3] Note that this was prior to the item quality effect change from version 2.2.0 though, which means the consumed quality back then was able to improve these odds by "more than double". personal experience not statistically worth: i 6-linked 2 items this league, for one, i was just spamming a few fus, and i got it at my 7th (xoph's nurture) on the other i was actually looking for a 5-link, but i got a 6 before any 5 at around 75 fus while linking, most of the people stop at 5 links after a certain number of fusing spent. these things should explain your market prices |

sixlinking an item by yourself is priceless and satisfying.

Unless you get super lucky with a "once in a blue moon" 6L. I got a 6L BoTB just before Christmas in 21 fuses... wtf?... get outta here you're shitting me? Ya, I was dumbstruck too when it happened but that's the brutality and cruelty of PoE rng as implemented by GGG. Someone, somewhere in the world, will pull the fusing slot machine arm and hit the jackpot. Most will get lemons, a few lucky SOBs will get a 5L in under 100, and a super rare few will get 6L in < 100. Somewhere on Youtube is a streamer who pulled the fusing slot machine arm and got a 6L on the 1st fuse. Probably similar odds as those few people that actually win a real lottery.
Then there are the horror posts like "6K fuses later and still no 6L" and their QQing/ranting that GGG is terrible for not providing a better way to craft (usually with a bunch of swear words). But that's the truth of PoE and GGG has this "working as intended" so don't ever expect it to change. Just farm currency and save up to buy one. Some will post "if you farm x zone or y map for z Divi-card you can get a full set and get a 6L" but that's just another form of rng lottery of the card dropping. I farmed Blood Aqueduct until I got a full set of Humility cards. I'd say about 100 times, I never kept count to get 9 so about one out of 10 to 11 zone runs. Just before the 9th card I ran one of the Master dailies and a Tabula dropped (my first on 2 builds in the mid 70s) so more crazy RNG of PoE: Quality on a Tabula? WTF? Does it even do anything? Only other way is to make 3 or 4 Strand Beach farmer exiles and run each in rotation somewhere between 6 and 7 hours each to get uber Hillock and the Oni-Goroshi 6L sword. I've done a 3 build rotation a couple of times to get Oni swords and it is in about 6.75 hours on a build x 3 builds so around 20 real hours to get a 6L that way but at least it's a 100% guarantee that eventually uber Hillock will show up on the beach. I just didn't expect that to get one after the nerf I'd end up a member of the Level 9 Strand Beach Club (2 swords came at 2% and 4% into level 9... ya at the end it's "what time/day is this"... damn I was in a zombie mind numbing mental state from those grinds for awhile... "are we having fun yet?"!). But yes, all PoE vets know it's best to buy 6L gear and much less stressful usually (the oni farming is just zombifying... I must have run the beach over 2K easy by now). You all have a great day too and if you don't ever expect any specific gear while playing PoE then when you do get a great drop and the PoE slot machine rng pays out you can mini-celebrate. This is exactly "Working as intended" by GGG. "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. The perfect solution to fix Trade Chat: www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2247070 |

I sell my fusings and buy 6Ls. I've made a few 6Ls, but it's very risky and requires a huge investment at the ready in case of bad luck.
Really, the only reason to use Vorici is if you acquire a high roll with great corruptions and intend to use that weapon/armor permanently once 6L'd. |

it all depends what you're linking. more desired armors like belly of the beast and queen of the forest will probably be more expensive to buy than to link yourself, especially with the higher rolled things. otherwise of course its cheaper to buy it yourself, or at least perceived to be.
you can usually get "lucky" and link before you hit 1000 fusings, at least in my experience. i think i've only had one or two take over 1000 and i've never taken more than 1200 to link out of like probably close to two dozen attempts. but, you don't know what it'll take, so you assume the worst. this perceived value of what it'll cost you in the worst case scenario makes things that you buy seem pretty cheap. now the biggest factor is what armor it is and its rolls. right now, however, in incursion, nearly all armors are sitting at 5 exalts for a 6L because of how many factors are in play to easily gain those 6Ls due to league mechanics and interactions. people decide to 6L themselves and get lucky and try to sell the armor. price keeps going down and down as the market gets saturated and supply outweighs demand, where as demand for fusings is always high because of other uses than only 6Ling armors (also weapons, and other links to fuse, and popular currency to flip). just look at the prices of armors. they started out at 10-12ex. dropped to 8, dropped to 6, dropped to 5. they'll just keep getting cheaper too as the time goes on. |

" No. There is not "reason" to use Vorici. Only superstition. It's been shown that it's expected cheaper to do it manually. |
