Let me know if you need more schooling. I love the feeling of superiority I get from pointing out your stupidity. ^_^
sure about that? in my book an MMORPG is a game where people play together in an open world,so can happen that you need to wait to farm a boss, for example. does it look like that in PoE? nope.
still loving the feeling of superiority, dude?

A game can be heavily instanced and persistent. You have to understand the context of persistent.
Guild Wars was heavily instanced and considered an MMORPG. In fact, both Path of Exile and the Diablo series are obviously persistent. The term persistent in that definition speaks toward character progression being saved and continued involuntarily.
Most people don;'t consider POE and Diablo an MMORPG because of the niche, not because of the definition, because by definition they would be considered MMORPG.
Do I consider POE and Diablo series an MMORPG? Not from the gamers perspective, but by the technical definition.. you can't really argue it.
Then our definitions of persistent differ.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistent_world
"
A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits it, and to whose state user-made changes are to some extent permanent.
"
'Persistence' comes from maintaining and developing a single or dynamic instance state of the game world that is shared and viewed by all players around the clock.
The 'world' or 'map' seizes to exist when i exit my client. Only the towns could be somewhat defined as shared or persistent, but even then its stretching the definition imho.

Its absolutely not stretching the definition. You should read the link in its entirety before you link it, not just the first sentence.

Just for the record, we can dissect wikiepedia and go back and forth with this. But, I always thought it was pretty universally known that Diablo and Path of Exile are persistent worlds. I guess not though.
I don't feel like you coming back and saying, oh but I can't share instances without them volunteering, or me saying since the game does not pause or create player-accessible back-up files, a character's actions will have consequences that the player must deal with.
Its just dumb. It depends on the perspective. Shit, DAYZ even advertises itself as a persistent world.

A little specification,PoE becomes an MMORPG in the cut-throat league.

The only challenge in this game is hitting alt-f4 fast enough to stay in e-peen league so you can belittle players that don't hit alt-f4.

Rift might be in there too. Areas can go to hell in a hand basket at times.

Go play Minecraft in peaceful mode. Boringest most worthless waste of time ever. I'd rather watch paint dry.
