The trade bot thing
Imagine if GGG actually did some work and put in a vendor that sold / bought currency based on trade volume... Just imagine...
Better yet, imagine if you didn't need 50 different currencies... Imagine if the cost of everything was just based on monster kills so we only had one currency that we didnt even need to pick up... just imagine... |

" Grim Dawn does everything based on monster kills = basic currency and reputation, so yea, it has been thought through and implemented and working. As for a trade vendor, how hard is it really? You start at a baseline currency value, and it ebbs and flows based on server sales to that vendor. eg... Divine to Chaos starts at 100, if I buy 1 Divine, it then goes up to 1 Divine for 101 Chaos, if I then sell 101 Chaos for 1 Divine, it goes down to 100 Chaos. Then you add a natural decay on it, it will stabilize itself. It is a simple formula to balance a currency system based on supply and demand. Granted the numbers would need to be tweaked to vary on server size, etc, but this is just a simple example for simple minds to understand the base premise of the system. Just imagine if they could come up with something that easy.. Just imagine. Последняя редакция: Nulledout#3809. Время: 6 янв. 2023 г., 10:00:47

Yeah. I have to disagree with Mr no bots trade currency. I've traded most of my currency with bots cuz they just respond faster than anyone else.

Automation is the name of the game of the 21-Century.
There is litteraly no single weaponsfactory remaining on the old continent that is still producing arms handcrafted, unless its a gimmick like swords. The ones that did not invest in robots all went off the market. So, shoutout to the greek who got interested in why i buy a crappy 1c item from him, the long answer is "to get stuck in highlvl content", its basically the name of any game "to waste time". Also, there are differences, macros, overlays, bots, ... each with their own ethical implications, we working in automation know that we replace humans with robots, atleast the robots don´t complain about their new shitty job. And with the market-manipulations, you could view it as a robot-maintanance-tax. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drDs-Y5DNH8

I don't bot yet I have to disagree w/ OP and the notion in general. The ancient mechanic of "let's sit down and have a cup of tea and chat while we trade" was never cool and never believable. This is the natural progression of these conflicting goals: get through content as quickly as possible vs. be social.
My guild used to have (still has?) a policy of "u have to come to the guild forums once per year so we can know you're real" or whatever. But I haven't been in idk how long and I'm still active. Cuz you can't force people to be social. You can only show them and let them decide for themselves. As said above, in this context, there just isn't any reward for doing that. Actually it's a penalty. Actual benefits I can think of to not completely automating trade: 1) u get to see cool hideouts 2) u occasional run into someone who hooks you up e.g. they are done with league; "need maps bro?" (As an aside: either of those things is automatable and if not, will be soon! :P) Automation *is* an arms race and you just can't fight the tide. Let's look at that: army of thousands of no-lifers vs. handful of ppl at poor ol' GGG. Who's going to be able to put more effort in, every step of the way? Developing bots, counter-bots, counter-counter-bots, etc. GGG outmanned and I don't really know much about the specifics of the topic but it looks like they're outgunned also. If not it's only a matter of time. There are some slick ways companies have come up with to detect bots. There are also infinite ways to get around them. The best way to deal w/ this is open the technology to everyone, instead of letting just criminals have the guns. But no. Let's pretend it's 1998. That'll work. |

They tolerate bots because they know its the only keeping trade functional, and Chris wont let them fix trade because he had a bad time in Diablo 3 once and instead of saying "Hmm maybe that RMT system wasn't good" he instead fixated on "All forms of automated trade are bad" so PoE is stuck in the 1990s in terms of trade mechanics.

In Torchlight Infinite the AH is brilliant. I don't know of any bots or similar things...

Bots enable trading, or you won't get your items.

D4 and Last Epch have all done this or are about to. If Last Epoch gets their MP and trade down it will make it much better than poe. Maybe not in content as it is new but engine and trade will make POE make a decision stay in the 80s or come join us in 2023.
