High CPU Usage and Low Performance in Path of Exile 2

I've tried every single fix under the sun and nothing has helped unfortunately. Every time i load into a map my game will shoot upwards to 2k+ CPU and ill freeze for about 3-5 seconds and die to the first monster (lost plenty of T14+ maps because of that)

I'm using a 3050 with a 5800x


For anyone having issues, Here are all of the fixes Ive tried. They may help someone out:

Messed with all of the settings in-game and turned them to low

Verified files on steam

Re-downloaded the game

put --waitforpreload in steams launch options

Set my power plan to High performance

Set POE to high performance in the graphics settings in windows

Changed global/trade chats to empty ones (4 number channels so do /global 9999 and /trade 9999)

Went into the config folder and turned all of the sounds off

Limited the CPU usage in task manager (also downloaded poeuncrasher which pretty much does that for you if i'm not mistaken)

Downloaded updates for both my CPU and GPU and updated BIOS.

Fresh install of windows


Literally everything i came across. The only one i couldn't try was the standalone client for POE2 because the launcher doesn't download very quick and i was getting about 110kb per second.

The good news is all of these attempts to get the game working for POE made games that were already running fine run much much better so i guess that's a plus.

Do you update windows after fresh install? If yes, do you can try to fresh install windows and do not update it?

Такая же проблема. Нашел такой вариант в Интернете, в Steam в параметрах запуска прописать -useallavailablecores, это позволит игре использовать все ядра процессора.
Не гарантирую безопасность, но мне немного помогло.
P.S. Практически исправило зависание установка ограничения кадров в секунду на 60 и герцовку монитора в 60 Гц. Картинка хуже, но играбельнее

Yeah, this game it's not ready to be played, i can't even play the endgame bcs i only get 40 fps max on maps and i've tried everything i could but nothing seems to work. It's crazy the released this game without optimising it

Completely unplayable at this point, CPU spikes to 100% instantly upon loading. I even reinstalled it onto new NVME drive in case the issue was with the old drive r/w speed but it crashes every 5 seconds which is worse than before.

It was fine on release like 2 crashes in 8 hours but now I can't even play the game.

The amount of crashes and failed attempts in the last few days since the 0.1.1 update is insane. The game is now even causing blue screen and crashes the whole PC, not just the game.

Edit: Validated the game files on steam and had 8 file issues, searched for the error and found out that you have to clear the download cache in your steam settings.

Path of Exile 2 has a problem with CPU usage. This leads to at best lowered performance and at worst hard crashes. This has been going on for almost 50 days now...

Those who are working on this problem (if they exist) and those who are responsible for communication are not the same people.

At this point we need an official communication from GGG to understand what to do next. For example if they were to say "this problem will take us 2 months to fix", I could then simply uninstall the game and comeback 2 months later.

Or if they were to say "We will allow refunds after February 1st" then we would be at ease for at least getting our money back.

Or if they were to say "using X skill seems to trigger the crashes" we can avoid it, one less trigger mean one less crash.

But we get nothing. Not a single information about anything. GGG should understand that this is not a F2P game anymore, they SOLD a product.

But basically we-as paying customers- have the right to know:

1) What went wrong?

2) What you are doing to fix it?

3) What possible causes have you eliminated as the source of the problem?

4) What triggers have you discovered that starts the resource hog loop other than "zone change"? (This one is really important because it allows players to create workarounds)

5) What is your estimated time of fix?

6) How did this sort of bug managed to avoid detection in your testing period?

7) What you will be doing to compensate players that have been affected by this issue?

8) Whether refunds would be made available for those that are no longer interested in playing the game?

As long as they are not doing this our only other option is to increase the pressure and warn others by giving a negative review for Path of Exile 2 on Steam in a detailed and informative manner.

I've now started to use intel xtu to limit the reference core by about 10% and it seems to be a bit more stable.

i adress the same problem and i have the same PC, when i play groups full deli maps i get 1/5 dps all the time i dont know what to do... for real my CPU says 60% usage and my GPU at 25/30% why the f... i am getting 1 FPS

CPU runs 30-40% max
GPU max 60% (usually - around 40-50%)

And doesn't matter if i change anything in graphics options. FSR/no FSR, Low/High details. Vulkan/DX12

~50% on GPU is max. Only fps drops or goes higher
