Why dedicate my time if I can lose all my XP with a death penalty?
" That was absolutely not clear from what they said. In fact the opposite. 1:28:24 DM asks the question. Their responses are: Jonathan: " Mark: " My takeaway was that the 1 portal for Maps is almost certainly not going anywhere (they both seemed in agreement) but they are thinking of changing some of the other factors because overall it's too much. And the XP penalty is in the mix. Notably, neither of them explicitly said they felt like XP loss is still needed. Which they very easily could have said. |

" So what? If someone has a weak build and/or bad gear, they will be struggling to even sustain the map tier they are attempting, and slow to find more gear or currency to help them improve. Nobody who has completed the campaign is not already trying to get stronger. How does taking away their XP in addition help? Again I use the analogy of kicking someone while they are down because you think it will motivate them to get back up. In fact they are much more likely to just give up and crawl away. And thankfully the GGG guys seem to be coming around to this idea. Последняя редакция: Orion_3T#9801. Время: 13 янв. 2025 г., 08:55:42

" It keeps you at 75, signaling to you to go work on your gear and/or gameplay before trying to press forward. It's working exactly as intended. | |
" I addressed this illogical retort in my edit - nobody who can clear the campaign is not already trying to get stronger. And they already won't be able to sustain that difficulty. So that argument doesn't work. Maybe it did in POE1 with less/different other penalties. Not here. GGG Mark summed it up pretty well I thought. Последняя редакция: Orion_3T#9801. Maybe they can add a prop called (revival coin) to the store. This is also a good income growth point.
Hmm. |

" I never said I'm constantly dying so I don't know what you're talking about. I understand your take on the situation but isn't that already the case in a 1 portal map? (That in punishes you for attempting a content that you are not ready) Also, you can never "do the same thing and expect different results" in this game. This only applies if you do the same map with the exact same mods, leagues, layout and set of monsters. But we all get something different each time right? " I see your point. You're right that there will always be people who will find something to complain with. I think the reason why they're voicing out their opinion is because PoE 2 has attracted a lot of players from different game genres and most have never experienced PoE 1. Since GGG is trying to make this a different game, some players are suggesting to remove the penalty. I actually don't mind the penalty but it's just sad to see players stop playing because of this. You may think it's stupid, but the fact stays that they will keep losing players from this mechanic. I get their point as well, trying to get to level 100 with the sense of achievement. But you can't brag about it when most of your friends has stopped playing. Time to find new friends. |

" This opens the door for P2W items. I am heavily opposed to it. HCSSF is the only way.

New patch coming and POE2 still in the past with XP penalty.

" The one thing that gives me hope is that Ten Cent won't stand for POE 2 being mismanaged like this for long. They are used to managing games with high bot problems and know how to keep a playerbase happy... not saying they are great at it, but at this point they're better than Chris Wilson and the POE 2 developers. " Except for three things: 1) Tencent doesn't manage ANY games. They buy companies....that's it. If you really think tencent is wasting their time on a pittance like GGG, you are woefully out of touch with the actual business world. Even if the entire game would collapse and GGG goes out of business tomorrw, it will have exactly zero impact on Tencent. GGG is approximately .04% of tencent's total portfolio. By comparison, the lowest INTEREST RATE on a savings account is .42%. GGG is less than a tenth of even annual interest in a personal savings account. 2) CW has nothing to do with PoE 2. Like.....literally nothing. 3) There are no more bots in here than there are in...pretty much any other game with a trading platform (or any avenue towards rmt). You think they are more prevalent here only because of how trade functions in PoE 1 and PoE 2, but its misleading you into thinking the problem is "unique".
