The trials are the worst content I have ever suffered.
PoE 2 is like more a Job...
Games are for make we happy e enjoy the experience, but PoE 2 is more like a Job, where you suffer and you are poorly paid. I miss labs from PoE 1 with this ascends. |

" Go play a game that makes you happy then. Why is that so hard for you people to do? There are countless mobile/console/pc games out there that offer instant gratification and mindless gameplay for you to enjoy to your heart's content. |

" ^- This. I'm tired of people who are self-actualizing through their vidyo-gaem play saying "git gud" during an EA Beta.. This game is going to change. It's in development. My money is just as spendable as anyone else's and I'm going to have my say and give my input... :) Trials, especially coupled with the "Honor" system are just plain bad design. I'd rather do twice the number of Lab run and I hate Lab runs in PoE1, too. For "Trials," the player is subjected to gameplay activity found nowhere else in the game. That's fine, except the most significant steps for their character's progression RELY on them not only completing them, but doing so with very little, or no, margin for error. The punishment for failure is "the gameplay." By that, I mean that all the gameplay value and anticipation spent leading up to and through that gameplay session is sacrificed with no reward... It's empty. Because later trials can take a significant amount of effort and time invested, it's a design that purposefully scales the punishment for failure. And, people wonder why someone rages after failing their last Trial because of lag or they moved an eighth of an inch left when they should have moved right or the Final Boss's unavoidable AOE rips through their last honor?? Trials rely on stacking Relic buffs for most players OR just happening to be playing a build that works well in all Trial situations. (Not all do) Relics are...guess what? That's right - Used nowhere else at all in any other gameplay. They are entirely a "dead-end" investment and no amount of time spent collecting them is going to be useful for progression even if that time spent was necessary to pass the Trials in the first place for a troublesome build. "Honor" appears nowhere else in gameplay. It is also not based on how diligent a player has constructed their build, how well they have progressed through the campaign and other main-play content, how shrewd their trading is, how well they've designed their Atlas...Nope, it's just a one-off mechanic that is there to punish the player and place a false-carrot on a stick in front of them by amping up the desirability of good Honor based relic drops... Not all builds are the same. "Honor" is not a variable to introduce a level playing field, it is shared misery. (It's actually "un-game" garbage since the player has few options to have any agency with it.) In PoE1, Labs can be run adequately by most legitimate builds. If the player can complete their Labs, their build, gear, and play acumen is basically "worthy" of the content at that level. Even the few unavoidable trap-rooms can be brute-forced with proper Flasks and even some cheap resist gear for that run only if the player is having issues. It's "doable" and the player has something GGG is steering away from in their design - AGENCY. They are overly fond of relying on RNG for far too much when RNG has NEVER, EVER, been the foundation of PoE play. I don't mind tough content. I am pushing 60... Yes, I'm old. But, I've also got thousands++ of gameplay experience in hundreds... thousands(?) of games. All types. All of them. I have paid my dues and spent far too many hours in "try hard" gaming. I have been at the top of the mountain. I know what it looks like from up there. This ain't it. This "design" is only meant as try-hard punishment. It's a progression speed-bump and GGG is apparently terrified that players will zoom through content too fast. OK, I get it, but when they opt-in for RNG and brutality to extend the value of their development costs instead of creativity and... a good play experience, they've left the path of wisdom. The biggest reward for the player in completing their final Trial is that they are no longer forced to engage with that gameplay. And... does GGG seriously think that is good game design? |

I think they think it's a design they are testing in early access and half the game isn't even released yet. I'm not going to white knight GGG as they have their share of things I am critical about, but I do think we need to all just have a bit of perspective and step back a bit. The trials are almost certain to change by the actual release of the game. They know full well they dont feel good and if it werent for the fact that there is a WHOLE other half a game to design and release, we'd probably see a much more polished system. Just let them cook, offer constructive criticism, and if it still sucks on release, then we get the pitchforks. Absolutely agree. They took one of the most hated and widely avoided mechanics from PoE1 (the honor system) and gated the single most important aspect of character building behind it. There's a reason that everyone either built characters specifically tailored to running Sanctum, or avoided it like the damned plague.
I just spent an hour and a half going through the trial for my third ascendency, being very, very careful to avoid taking any damage, avoided all afflictions that might brick my build, taking every honor-boosting, water-filling boon I could. Made it to the second to last room on the third floor with full honor, and then misjudged the size of the hit box on a single finicky flame trap, and there went 80% of my honor in about 2 seconds, and then the boss (which I'd never seen before) finished me off. And now I can't even try again without either farming or buying another trial key. GGG, the great work of your artists is being hamstrung by some of the most stupid, out-of-touch game design decisions ever made by an ostensibly experienced team. |

" You nailed it. I said it too, Trials literally has made to destroy our character builds with curses and trash modifiers that let us suffer. There is a difference between challenge and suffering, and GGG chosed suffering for the players. And this is only one problem in the game, i can literally name at least 10 more... " As a hardcore gamer i disagree with you. Games Should be fun and challenging, but this method isn't fun and stupid. go play non evasion build and try 'Trials of Sekemas' Where you should forced to play differently to your build, avoid any damage... yeah ("""like you can"""). And when you finally get to the boss, which you never fight before, oh and with full honour lets said. The boss hits you with AOE attack that rips 50% of your honour. Well & Good luck With that next attack, Goku. Последняя редакция: NathanielM#4655. Время: 21 апр. 2025 г., 16:02:53
