The Gatcha Problem - Less Randomization feedback and suggestions

I hate to sat it, but once 0.2 hit, this game feels more like Diablo Immortal and PoE.

Never played either. PoE2 is the first ARPG i played long enough to actually remember. I'm assuming Diablo Immortal pushed MTX pretty hard with false scarcity and RNG?

Honestly staring to feel like getting a good connection to the server is an RNG mechanic too..... Hopefully the server reset fixes the massive ping spikes

I Diablo Immortal, which I ditched on the 3rd day of release, it was next to impossible to progress without paying real money to increase the chance to get gear. Here, you have to trade instead, and many are willing to pay real money.

Was chatting with a friend who have generally just lost interest in the game as well. He summed it up this way: "POE2 is a very pretty pile of dung."

And it's all due to the excessive RNG.

And make no mistake, it's not about the existence of RNG, but the excessive way it is used. It's so bad that GGG is even using RNG to gatekeep us from engaging with the RNG.

I'm not sure I'd call it dung. But the constant RNG and tediousness of everything is exhausting. Add in the difficulty at higher levels and not being able to relax and just vibe it out ever in the game and it really is draining.
Generally speaking, in the RPG genre, character power development (progression) is fine tuned.

From the earliest days of turn-based RPG where each new village you visit would be selling gear one rank higher, to the modern MMOs that make sure each tier is a clear upgrade from the previous tier, there's always a deterministic progression.

POE2, however, gates progression using RNG.

The result is that people who are lucky feel it's easy, while people who got unlucky (both in terms of drops and in terms of crafting results) are forced to tackle increasingly more difficult content using stagnant power.

I feel the solution is really simple. Make item level itself cull lower tier affixes, both in drops and crafting.

Either that, or just drop plenty of currency so people can actually engage with the crafting a lot more and eventually get lucky.

The excessive RNG in this game is what makes it feel bad. It's like working at a company where you're constantly being shited on and you have to roll a dice every time you want to go home, and unless you roll a 6 you are staying overnight to do more work, and then the CEO expects you to be grateful to the company for providing the "dopamine hits" when you actually get to go home.

Things that are the cornerstone of this genre are gated behind harsh RNG in POE2, and if GGG continue to head down this path, POE2 will be dead-on-arrival when it launches.

I actually played today for awhile. Enough to get from level 84 to 90 and beat a couple pinnacle. During that whole grind my only upgrades came from passive nodes, 2 level 20 skill gems i had stashed away from way earlier in my playthrougj, and a perfect jewlets orb. I saw like three divines too.

So currency is okay is now.

Still not any gear upgrades though either drops or crafting. Pretty sure I've been rocking the same gear for at least 20 levels.... that's just sad. That being said it did feel quote a bit better to play today. Just wish that I wasn't the squishiest thing known to man. Really sucks getting one shot and not even knowing what it was because it was some hyper fast projectile from off screen.

Oh well I'll probably wait to try again for awhile. The RNG machine was exhausting to say the least. So many orbs and items wasted today for no reward.

I'm actually excited to try the new patch. Some of my complaints were actually addressed here! Thanks GGG. Hopefully you have time to address some more.
