Mid league nerfs can continue to get bent,

PTS would be cool though, that idea's a solid one, test environments with feedback tickets are always nice. I think that might actually require a larger team than they have though, to sort the PTR tickets. Unsure

Mid league nerfs are vital. We should have balance passes every 2 weeks or so. What we do NOT need. Is nuclear blasts from orbit deleting entire builds to the ground. Folks need to understand bad balance is bad for the game.

how do you do mid league nerfs without destroying broken builds that rely on some unintended interaction

It is extremely easy unless completely clueless.

For example: 0.1, cast on effects was broken op with certain combinations triggering them many times every second, in extreme cases dozens of times per second. But most builds was not using those op combinations.

Adding a hardcap cooldown on for example 0.2 seconds on trigger skills would instantly fix the problem without affecting most builds, and most of those builds would still be playable.

But what they do???? Yeah, they change the energy requirements to trigger them to absurd completely NUKE them to obliteration. Going from a dozen + times per second, to trigger a handful of times per map, not even once per monster pack......... And of course, in the process making almost every single build in the game using them now useless......

It´s so out of touch with reality, it´s the equivalent of someone not being able to do a simple 1+1=2 calculation trying to teach others math.....

They really need to hire new people to be in charge of balance, the current ones are completely clueless, dei/nepotism hires or something.

Last time they did mid league nerfs most of the forum when OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU hence they don't do that anymore.

Hence we don't get mid buffs anymore either.

You can thank them.

so in your logic players are guilty for their criticism of developers lack of ability to balance their game?

The cherry on top of this?
They didn't provide a free passive respec leaving people without the gold to do so completely bricked, leaving the people who were out of the skill/support gems to do a new spec bricked ect.

With their track record on this mid league nerfs are ENTIRELY unacceptable.
Even if they announced that they were going to do things differently in the future I still won't trust them to do mid league nerfs. Not until they build some trust.

EA needs to be treated as an EA, by both players and the devs. That means players can't expect a perfect game with no jank, and that their primary purpose in playing the game should be testing and feedback. And that means devs should not be running leagues with supporter packs and lootboxes, and they shouldn't be listening to players who are treating the game as released and focus on developing the game and pushing towards a 1.0 release.

This is the answer.

I don't understand this either, we are in EA, meaning we should be getting small changes all the time instead of treating the game as a full release.
We as players should have additional debug tools available to us to test mechanics and builds and what not.

Free infinite respecs really should exist, maybe even full class/ascendancy swaps so we can properly TEST the game before release, that's what all this is about, we should be testing the game, finding bugs, finding bad balance so that GGG can just fix those as soon as they arise in order to have a good game at launch.

I would even go so far as to allow us to spawn in any currency/item in the game at will just to test mechanics like crafting, make a separate "league" with these tools so that players testing things like drop rates/trade economy and such are unaffected.

But yeah, the bottom line is, stop treating this like a released game getting updates, this is a work in progress EA-title that really should be allowed to totally nerf things whenever it needs to or even remove/turn off features mid-league.

Same, i don´t trust them at all. And for good reason, they have proven themself over and over again to be clueless about balance.

The balance are all over the place. The people currently in charge of balance very clearly are not good at their jobs. The only way to fix that is to hire more competent people to handle it.

I doubt they will do that though, since the only way people this extremely out of touch with balance would end up in charge in the first place are dei/nepotism hires.
Wow this thread got silly.

Lots of armchair devs throwing around phrases like "clueless", "balance is easy/simple", "they don't play the game", "not good at their job", "need new hires".

This is the internet in 2025. People with no experience let alone expertise in a field popping off at the mouth, making everything worse. smh.

This forum is the prime example of the Dunning-Kruger effect.

If you look at the quality of GGG's balancing work through years, you'd see that they have no expertise either. But people who have played the game for hundreds of hours might understand a lot more.

I've yet to see a perfectly balanced game. Anywhere. Ever. Period.

You can get all that early game like lvl 10? If not, it dosent help at all.

Early game balancing really is in a pretty bad spot. Once you're in endgame you can pretty much make everything work from the sounds of it, but Act 1-3 is just not ok.
The best acts I've done so far were crossbows and pretty much the only skills that did anything were Explosive Grenade and Normal Attack. Everything else felt so weak it wasn't even worth using.

When you have 10+ skill gems available and the normal attack is the strongest option against Jamanra, I think there might be a problem. Other weapons just felt even worse.

That is exactly my point but the person I responded to goes straight to end game build and says see its strong. Most of the skills can farm maps late game with enough investment/strong items. That's not as much of a problem as 1-30 mace is just brutal compared to any other weapon type. On top of that warrior is the slowest one during that time period as well. And on top of that, most of the negative movement/attack speed nodes are in the warrior part as well.

You hit the nail on the head... when auto basic attack is the strongest skill until act 3 for a lot of classes/weapon types its a pretty obvious problem that early numbers need buffed. Maces need way more attack speed to offset the melee into abyss monsters and rares to make up for being melee. I am not joking when I say I rerolled into huntress and just auto attack spear threw for 10 levels and it was 100x easier than mace rolling slam for the same time.
