Moderation bias leads to even more toxicity

Honestly, I kinda see both sides here.

On one hand, when a thread turns into a food fight, the people running the place are absolutely going to step in. It’s their bar, their bouncers, their furniture getting smashed. If one table is getting rowdy enough, the bartender is going to cut that table off so the whole bar doesn’t turn into a brawl. From that angle, nuking a thread that keeps getting reported or moderated makes sense.

On the other hand, if the opposing thread is still standing - especially when it started as a tongue-in-cheek jab at the original - of course it looks like bias. It’s basically begging people to read it as "this side good, that side bad." The fun part is that we don’t actually know what happened behind the scenes. For all we know, the original OP might have gotten slapped with a heavier penalty, maybe even a forum ban, and the system could just auto-wipe their threads along with it. Or there could be some boring internal rule we never see.

So yeah, it feels lopsided from the outside, but we’re also judging the whole story from the few scraps we’re allowed to see.

Thank you! A very reasonable take on the matter.

In the end of the day however, it IS a problem because of the way they chose to handle it and evidently it creates even more problems.

They should either bring back that thread with any TOS braking posts removed, or remove/lock the other thread as well. That’s more than fair. Keeping it lopsided reeks ill intentions.

This happens when you employ discord mods. I was even put on probation for "antagonizing others" for comments like "you can't pull facts from your ass" or "because... shut up" (this one also written as joke). Funny thing is that this happened only after I raised my voice against deleting my posts in PM (yeah I was pretty sarcastic there). It's sad that in a game forum where majority of players should be adults we must talk like there are mostly toddlers.

I only see 1 side being punished for antagonizing others. More double standards. Great 🙄

I posted a theory of their bias earlier in this thread but just had another post of mine deleted for using a certain word. I'm guessing they are sensitive to certain words or tones that may ruffle their ideological feathers
Poe2 is intended to have slower, more meaningful combat.
Let's not discuss whether we are there yet or not. Let's not discuss how to make the game better by making it closer to poe1.

When poe1 enjoyers will accept that, community will heal.

Giving feedback that leads closer to poe1 is simply a bad feedback, as that is not the game direction, no matter how loud you cry. You can play poe1, go play poe1 if you enjoy it so much.
Let poe2 be developed into something else, whether you like it, or not. Plan was and is to have 2 different games.

Removal of bad feedback is fine, because such topics are not feedback, it's just a mess which polarizes the community even more.

You equate feedback that goes for faster play to be bad feedback and that their removal is then justified. That's not how it works.

The reason why threads can be closed is when the OP of the said thread insult the people they are interacting with.

Now you are straight up saying that the feedback that isn't going for slower and methodical gameplay, should be deleted.

How is that a reasonable take? This is exactly what the OP of this very specific thread is calling out but he's missing the points on the reasons as to where the moderators decided to close the other thread, and it's clearly not because it was "bad feedback". It's because the person that made that thread was completely out of line.

But you, you literally are asking the devs to do what he's exactly denouncing.

@OP

Im fully sent on this idea after today. Something is massively wrong with the current state of moderation on this website.

Stuff that REALLY needs to be removed has no action taken against it. ie:Calling people stupid, trolls, or just dismissing everything they have to say as "rage bait, bait" etc..

But stuff that isnt even remotely close to being .... I cant say because I think the moderation team will just remove it.

This website is losing its legitamacy and turning into... wow. Just wow moderation.

I mean the fact that this thread is up immediately disproves what you and OP are trying to claim, no?

Can you link where people are calling other people stupid or what they claim to be ragebait while contributing nothing to the general discussion e.g feedback and the thread / comments are allowed to stay up?

The only thing that hits the mark above is this thread, as it's entire premise is that the thread I created is "only ragebait", which I've stated multiple times it's not. While it was created "tongue-in-cheek" I had every intention to start a serious and productive discussion, as evidenced by my interactions with anyone willing to do the same, in the original thread as well as any follow ups.

I also have no problem with this thread staying up, or the original one just for the record :).
Slow down guys, im the OP of the deleted post. Dont throw anything against the moderation. It was my fault in my opinion. I had to wait my 1 day probation to respond here.

First, dont worry about some ppl saying that i was going aggressive on others at my old threat. I guarantee that i was not. The post had trully good intentions, and i did not went aggressive on anyone, in fact, i was heavly attacked by some emotional players with opposite opinions.

I'v received 0 warnings or posts editions, so the guy in this thread who threw those accusation was def wrong, he was just trying to fuel you guys, dont fall for it. I was always defending that both playstyles should coexist too, so i wasnt trying to cut anyone from the game fun.

But, I did 2 things that iv considered wrong

1 - I was ragebaited to that second post where the OP coppied my thread and turned it into a sarcastic and offensive joke. Altho i trully think that post wasnt constructive, i did something that prob triggered moderation ---> I shared the link of the second thread in my own one, and accused it of stimulating rage among players.

2 - In that same thread (the second and twisted one, not my original), i lost my line with a guy who said that ppl who did not have hundreds of challenges nor several supporter packs on their account, should not be allowed to speak in this forum (he also said those ppl were mentally ill. These types of attacks were really common these last days, but this time i lost it).

Even tho the event in number 2 was not in my original thread, i think it triggered moderation in a more complex way.

The thing is, dont fall for these types of ragebaits as i did. If someone is baiting you, its because he already lost it. You need to be smart in any forum. Certain words trigger responses, others dont. My ideas hit 2k ppl, and we did some nice discussions in there, i think its good enough.

Everytime someone tries to ragebait you with things like ''you are not the majority of playerbase'' or agressive arguments, just avoid conflict. Several streamers like Rue, and more than 50 % of the posts and comments about this theme in this forum supports room for the slower gameplay pace. Hell, if we pay attention even the game ( no movement skills, just 2 flasks, ms nerfs, packsize nerfs etc).

My bet is that GGG will try to find a solution to hold both types of gameplay (but even zooming wont be like it is in poe1, it will be more meaningful). That means more players and a healthier game.

Iv learned my lesson and will be smarter with cheap baits. I will keep bringing these ideas to the forum, but i will avoid dumb ppl this time.

Anyway, i cant describe how awesome it was to discover you guys worried about me and my thread lol.

See you all later in future discussions
