Giving up on Vaal Temples
|
I am also over them.
I placed a royal access chamber and have spent 4 runs into the temple since trying to path to atziris chamber to use it. i have paths and rooms that look like they should allow me to do this but they wont. 4 runs into the temple is also 24 maps...that is a lot of maps to make no real notable progress. that on top of fighting blackjaw 3-4 times per run, the forgemaster 3-4 times per run...its just stale they were helpful in acts 1-3 to gear up but beyond that its felt like im just doing it for some misplaced FOMO reasoning. i think the answer should be first to give players more agency in going through the temple, with the tiles, as they please...let us rotate the tiles or something. the next suggestion would be to either have more variety of bosses and rooms, which im sure is unlikely, so instead probably best to just make it smaller with like 12 rooms maximum at a time. having 18 rooms to run through is an absolute slog. it wouldnt feel like a slog if we dropped good loot but so far i am mostly dropping litter. I will probably discontinue them until i see a patch with some sort of meaningful changes made to them. running one for like 2-3 chaos/exalts is just a waste. i can run T15 white maps and drop that. I too dont really like them in general.
Like even just doing the node on the map is a joke. In the campaign they dropped at least an exalt or something. In maps they drop nothing. And then the temple scaling/rewards seems off. You do a bunch of rooms, but its just mobs and blank chests. Even rooms that are labeled give you nothing. And you have to go through this whole tier thing to even get them to do anything for you.... ultimately giving you what you got in the campaign from them. Im not seeing the point in the mechanic personally. I want to do something other than mapping, but I want it worth my time as well. Mash the clean

Last one i did there was that priest or something in the room where you can get a lesser jeweller orb. I'm still in campaign.
Guy is spaming lightning beam without cool down + all sort of solar orbs and the modifiers from rare. He had volatile plants. Was rippy af i could only dodge roll all the time, i just logged out. I know my res and such arent top but again, first toon in campaign and it's for a lesser jeweler orb lol I'm not going in anymore tbh. I had a bunch of bench for exalted first 2 acts and now never anymore. Thoose boss room are always empty after killing it. Idk if it's actualy a bug but the room state "may have a bench" so i guess it's not a bug. Kinda sad cause i actualy really like the design of the activity and was exited to build a huge temple. But if it's just to go RIP for a white chest i'll pass. Even when i'll fix my guy i dont know if it's worth the time tbh. You prob get a lot more usefull stuffs just mapping. SSF player

The only reason I'm doing it is for the extra limb stuff (curse magnitude and recoup). Though they get removed if you die, not sure. So not for everyone.
Otherwise the temple does feel like a waste of time compared to maps. Mainly just a few rooms with the same couple of mini-bosses over and over, just to get 5 armourer scraps or a single artificers/jewellers orb. So once I get the limbs I want, I'll stop running it. The layout is annoying too. Sometimes there are doors that are not shown on the map and sometimes there aren't. Just make every room connect to each other and remove all the travel tiles. It's still a big maze layout that nobody likes to run. Right now it seems like half the rooms can connect up to others even when you think they can't, meanwhile all the bonus rooms and Architect/Atziri need pathways to lead to them. So when placing rooms, it's hard to tell if a path is going to be blocked or join to the next one. Последняя редакция: SaiyanZ#3112. Время: 16 дек. 2025 г., 02:55:28

Yeah i don't think the mechanic is fun, i'm ignoring it entirelly which will probably make me play 0.4 way less on average in comparison to 0.3

It was obvious to anyone who played in synthesis league that this league mechanic is going to be a disaster. Was funny watching all the newer players coping and saying how great and original this will be to create a dungeon and connect rooms to each other and fight a boss in the end.
I get new players who never experienced this sort of mechanic before, but why did GGG not learn this mistake from synthesis ?. Последняя редакция: Rod#7054. Время: 16 дек. 2025 г., 04:30:44

Yeah second the confusion on how to place tiles, some rooms connect with each other some don't. I think I have it figured out now but, still not quite sure.
Which is especially annoying since there is no redo function while setting up the map. Through placing the given tiles the player doesn't get any new information so there would be no harm in letting the player take the tiles of the current run back into the pool to be able to place them somewhere else. Locked myself out of a quarter of the map through rooms that are not able to be extended from before I got the basic concept... |

" Synthesis was more fun in comparison tbh, at least if you had a suitable build. My main gripe with that league was that it was way to grindy to even get to the final boss. |

I dont understand the strategic aspect/ risk management from GGG. Why not add a smaller mechanic that is quick in maps and rewarding and takes less development time and then being able to focus on what THEY explicitely said they want to do: FIX ENDGAME. Now they have a dead and complex mechanic noone likes and need a lot of work to fix that instead of fixing what is already on the fixlist. Really dont understand how they opted for an advanced league mechanic with so much potential for error at this stage of development when they already announced their focus. Miscommunication and Mismanagement in my opinion.

Another Thing that came to my mind is since most of the things that you get are workbenches that work as spheeres I am quite curious if this cases an Inflation in the market prices.
