I have a hardcore gaming computer built only a few months ago - so this should not be the problem for my disconnectes. It was ok yesterday to play (only a few disconnects) but today played for 5 minutes fine - then started to get heavy disconnects. my friend in another country started his disconnects at the very same time - which should mean its not mine or his end that is the problem.
Nevermind, im dumb You should run that when you are having problems, otherwise its fairly useless.
Judging from what you posted there, you shouldnt have any issues. I know you want to blame it on GGG, but literally millions of players have no problem, so its most likely you.
HAIL SATAN!

Did you at all read my comment? My friend in a different country has the same problems occuring at the very same time intervals.. and still you say it should be related to me? :P

I see this is #1 response on these forums to contact isp and that its firewalls etc. but no this isnt the case. I am a computer technician and would fairly likely be able to solve whatever is on my part. As I said - its not always disconnecting - but last night was quite frequent at it. And seeing it happens for 2 players over and over in the same moments where we live seperate places it seems unlikely to link it to neither setup or connection on our ends.

I also sit on a fiber broadband of 25mb/s each direction - and I'm the only user so its fine on that part too since I've read PoE can be a bit picky on connectivity :)

Might have to do with serverload though? or is it right as I read some map areas and such can cause more problems than others?
Camaxide: if you want someone to take your problem seriously and help you, you really should post your own thread rather than attaching to a 7 page thread.

Otherwise, I think what tramshed was trying to ask was if the trace was running/capturing at the time of the problem (disconnect) and if it was captured? If so, there doesn't seem to be a lot network related.

Instance servers can sometimes crash, but those are pretty rare and usually pretty easy to detect if that is the problem. The easiest way to detect if you had an instance crash is to attempt to go back to the instance you were in before disconnect. In the case of a Map, it won't let you back in. It will give you some other error. In the case of a non-map instance, it should be reset. If you go back to your instance properly after the disconnect and it wasn't reset, then your disconnection was NOT a server instance crash.

If it's not a server instance crash, then there are only a couple of things I know of which will cause disconnections. One being an ACTUAL internet disconnection (or dropping enough packets), or the other is a latency time-out disconnect (related to the first one, but more due to the server and client failing to talk to each other in the appropriate amount of time).

So first stage is to attempt to determine which type of disconnect you are getting. Once you've determined that, then we can attempt to troubleshoot why it is happening (depending on WHAT is happening).

First stage is ALWAYS a WinMTR however since 90% of the cases of problems ARE due to ISP or firewalls for most users. Also keep in mind that we don't know you from anyone else, and thus we don't know your skill level or knowledge. It's not meant as an offense so please don't take it that way. We have to treat everyone here as if they know nothing and then work from there.

Here's my most recent situation.
Constant replies of "an inexpected disconnection occurred" from the aussie gateway.

http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/digital-life-news/australian-internet-connections-slowed-down-by-submarine-cable-fault-20141202-11yc8m.html

Sub cable fault, and GGG is in NZ, so there is a chance your data goes though the fault.
I get this a lot too and it can't be helped since my wireless has spikes. I just wish that POE would save your progress. I hate making it through a map that doesn't have a portal, entering into a map that does have a portal but disconnecting before I can activate it.

That being said, entering new areas is 99.9% of my disconnects. Character stops moving (everything else clicks fine) and then after a mind-numbing minute wait, disconnect.

I would also love to see a means to exit to title screen (or character selection) unless something like that already exists in the game. Similarly a refresh connection button would also be helpful.

Just because a game is built to rely on high connectivity doesn't mean that it doesn't need fail-safes against low connectivity. Personally I'd say implementing features for connectivity and UI should take precedence over content and the likes, but that's just me.
I'm having the issue here as well, every online multiplayer I play is perfectly fine with very low ping except PoE.

I'm a long time player of PoE, and just recently this new season "The Awakening" I began noticing a LOT of strange random disconnections very often. Like I said, no other multiplayer game disconnect me except for this game. I've posted many months ago, but no one replied me with a solution.

GGG you've got to fix this issue or else you will lose your player base. I'm truly frustrated with PoE and I am quitting until this issue it fixed. Thanks
Don't Necro ancient threads. Post your own.

Well, they didn't have to Necro a thread from eight months ago, true. They could have just bumped one of these "disconnect" threads:

or any of the multi-page threads about the lag & latency spikes across multiple gateways (I'm not sure which ones also contains a significant number of disconnect issues in addition to commentary about the lag & latency spikes).
