Constant "an unexpected disconnection occurred"

This thread was the first that showed up when I search for frequent disconnect issues. It's not like I hunted down an old thread to necro. But yeah, apparently the issues with disconnect and the lack of functionality to easily get in and out of the game and save progress persists. Currently the only going for this game is the semi-interesting skill tree set up. Game play is average in my opinion, a bit on the grindy end, and quite frustrating with the lack of progress saving coupled with very high connection demands. Also I'm kind of liking the fact that none of the paid stuff in this game really give you an advantage, means that this game is very cheap to play (well free actually). That's probably not so good for the devs though. I hope they aren't getting the short end of the stick for being nice about it.

EDIT: and seriously, is there no exit to character screen option? That's kind of ridiculous...
