died plenty of times to random crap like teleporting into the wrong spots by the game sync, even died loading in and finding myself dead a few times. As good as the game is this part of it is a big slap in the face.
Don't think offline mode is the best option, but can only pray GGG does something to improve it. .... Guess i'll have to save some money and move to a continent with super fast net.

Doesn't help, because i have the latter. It's just a shitty approach to networking with shitty code for it.
You can have 100mbs, 1mb, 20mb connection... Doesn't matter, that doesn't determine lag... Neither does cable vs fiber vs DSL. Lag in an online game is strictly latency (calculated in ms)... Do some network testing on your connection to the server via tracert and ping hops. Latency over 100ms you would probably notice, below you shouldn't.. I get 15-20ms latency... Desync galore on ranger. Their servers can't handle all the connections and its slowing down, their hardware is at fault. Sucks cause I love the game (OK not the crap economy, but everything else)
Tired of seeing morons post "omg I have 100mb connection I can't lag!"... Idiots
While I've enjoyed playing this game so far, if it weren't for the lag I'd play this game almost non-stop, lag made me quit last time, and it's even worse now and made me quit again.
I know its still a beta but a year ago it was bad and now it's even worse. 15 year old RTS and FPS games have better netcode. :(
It is definitely not my PC, I have no issues playing other games, SC2, Counter Strike, L4D2, DOTA2, D3, Torchlight 2... you name it. These games require precise micro and lag is unacceptable and these games are all a joy to play with minimal lag. There isn't a single game that has horrible lag except PoE so it is certainly the game that is at fault.
I would have thought that fixing the netcode would be the most important part of a multiplayer game? Why is this not a priority after 3 years?
Anyway, hopefully there is an offline mode or the issue is drastically fixed before release... it will be sad to see this game BOMB HARD because of poor network code. It really destroys the experience when you die for no fault of your own.
Offline mode would be great, like in Dark Souls, online is generally more fun, but you can also enjoy the experience offline. I really hate this always online nonsense most games try to do now. Sure online will often be more fun but give the PLAYER the choice, playing an online game with terrible netcode is not fun at all. I will probably check back when it is finally released as the netcode would HAVE to be fixed by then... certainly can't be released with crappy lag otherwise that would be a MASSIVE fail!
I am paying for 100/10 connection through Comcast, and have run tracerts to the servers that I am connecting to. Everything appears fine on the tracert around 40-50ms. However in game I bounce between 50-250ms constantly.
I have no other issues with any other game that I am currently playing.
This is definitely an issue on POE's end.
Wired directly to the modem for testing purposes.
