So, if we took the opinion that bondage is only about abuse, and never something a person might enjoy, than we should see women outright rejecting the novel.

While I don't find bondage sexy, people who go by the terms "doms" and "subs" do. They actively seek each other out. There are also people who enjoy a certain amount of pain with their pleasure.

Hence the scene in Monty Python where Sir Galahad faces the Oral Sects:

Fuck man, the thing that makes me the most angry here is that those women don't realise there are sex shops and ecommerce sites that explicitly sell rope that's made for bondage. Also, bondage tape, that stuff is awesome fun.

50 Shades is probably responsible for a lot of amateur bondage accidents. :(
