Corrupted Items Potential Details Explained

We've been teased with several corrupted items and each one has had something different about it. The only consistency is that the difference in each item is that an itemization rule has been "broken", i.e. the max # of affixes, color of sockets, and fixed implicit mods of base items.
If I had to guess the drawback of being corrupted is that the item can no longer be altered just as items tagged as "mirrored" cannot be. |

" I quite like this. The rich stay rich, and the poor have more the work with, as well as those in the middle. Alas, it's late and I am not thinking this out too much, but sounds good at first thought. I love pie. Последняя редакция: xSyK0TiC#2841. Время: 24 февр. 2014 г., 02:00:26

Gear will not gain more than 6 affixes unless corruption has a small chance to permanently destroy the item. this would actually be such an amazing item sink.
The idea of non mirrored items is pretty damn good and is the first step in fixing end game itemization. IGN: Arlianth

" I was thinking they might still be alterable but corrupted and mirrored would be mutually exclusive. Keep PoE2 Difficult.

corrupted items
- can have white sockets - can have different implicit mods - can have more affixes/suffixes once an item is corrupted it - cant be eternaled - cant be altered - cant be chaosed - jewelled - fused - mirrored anymore. only orbs that work: - chromatics - transmutations - augmentations - exalts - blessed orbs ONLY regular (white) items can be corrupted via "vaal orb". BUT: already corrupted magic, rare or unique items can drop. Последняя редакция: Edradour#0197. Время: 24 февр. 2014 г., 10:11:38

That would be brilliant. Just make it unchangeable and unmirrorable after you corrupt an Item with the orb. That orb doesn't have to be rare, since there is also a chance of ruining your perfect item if the added mod is random and can't be removed. You wouldn't want to dump it on mirror-worthy items (Can't ask for mirror fees anymore). Those orbs would be better used on less than perfect gear or even lowlvl stuff. I like this idea a lot.
edit: also it would be an easy way to improve map drops, if that orbs is common enough. You don't want to alter your maps anyway after you have enough IIQ on it, so Maps would probably be the primary sink for that orb. Последняя редакция: Xorim#4799. Время: 24 февр. 2014 г., 09:05:46

I have only one fear about corrupted items: Since the can have a imense power, they would be BOA. That will be the WORST thing that will possibly ever happen to the game.
God, i wish to be wrong about this... |

It may be that the Vaal orb is used in conjunction with other orbs, either as a recipe of sorts, or for example to corrupt the other orb which then has an "enhanced" functionality.
For example: Vaal orb + Chromatic orb = has a chance to roll white sockets or adds white sockets Vaal orb + Blessed orb = randomizes the type of implicit properties on an item Vaal orb + Exalted orb = gives the possibility to add a 7th, 8th etc. property to an item etc. PS: if I'm on the money you heard it here first! " I don't see any kind of logic behind this. You're pretty much saying : "If an item has an immense power, then it is Bind on Account". First of all, we don't know if corrupted items = powerful items, or more power potential than regular items (even the map with 8 mods tell us nothing about this). Secondly, the fact that an item is very powerful doesn't mean he has to be bind on account. And there are a lot of very powerful items already in the game and they are not BOA. Plus, Chris already stated that BOA mechanics is of no inteest for GGG. IGN : @Morgoth Последняя редакция: Morgoth2356#3009. Время: 24 февр. 2014 г., 09:14:25
