This issue occurred a long time ago, check the date....would have been real easy to fix this when it was being tested before it was released to the public. No problem, on to anything else.

I realize this is an old thread but since I'm having the same issue I thought I'd post on this one. I have tried Piety on Cruel twice now and both times my game crashes just a bit before she dies, usually around 10-20% hp left. I'm playing on Onslaught so I'd really like to know if there is anything I can do to get around this so I don't RIP because of a crash. I'm running a top of the line rig that's less than 6 months old so it's not memory or graphics card related.

Maybe, if the bug is not easy to correct, another way to proceed could be to make the npc giving the key after Piety's death.
In my case, death of that bitch was creditate and Igor gave me the 2 points, if he could give the key too, problem should be in part resolve.

Waiting for that kind of bug since so much months is a little shame, and i'm really sorry to say that because that game is really powerfull otherwise.

Well, I'm still experiencing game crush when I kill Piety. 3 times in a row. I wonder is it so hard to fix it?

Had the same issue today, game crashed right when I killed her (first piety kill with a new char on normal, just hope she'll still drop the tower key next time). She was in her fireform when I killed her, don't know if that information is helpful.
How I know I killed her? When I restarted the game and logged in, I got my quest reward for killing her (2 passive skillpoints)

Additional information: played solo, have no idea what exactly killed her (either my spectral throw, a minion explosion from minion instability or a hit from one of my minions)

Edit: Made another run, she dropped the tower key :-)

I am having the same problem while fighting Piety. It's pretty much impossible to kill her because I end up having my game crash every single time I try it.

I have realized, though, that it only crashes when she is in her "cold" form and fires the ice arrows. To be more precise, my game crashes whenever my character and Piety appear are near each other (both are shown on screen) and she fires the ice arrows.

Hope this piece of information is useful for you to fix this issue.

The crash pretty much happens when she transforms with a portal.
The sound stops and the screen freezes, after a while music plays a bit more and the game stops responding and crashes.
I don't know if it's the red or blue portals that cause it but they are probably the main issue.

Same shit is happening to me. 64 bit, 8 gb ram. Orange or blue portal = crash; no error message other then client.exe has stopped working. Tried playing with no sound to no avail.

Edit: I should mention I've been playing since open beta and this has never happened in the past leagues or in Standard.
