After all of that, I'm still here supporting. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

I am perfectly fine with that grant.

Peace,

and have a good one, -Boem-

Edit : also, just to note, i would play an SF-league, or a normal league with SF tag's.
I like me some endurance battle's.

I know you would!

be well, sir
Yep, something you have to remember is that his is all a massive argument over specially arrange 1's and 0's. While its good and well to disagree, and I don't mind that, there's no need to get so serious and intense over it. Just keep this in mind when you all continue this argument, as I am certain it is bound to. Or even in other ones on the forums, there sure are a lot of them these days :P

Maybe because it was based on nothing?

Also my initial post was of empathy with the OP, i did not derail this thread, i simply responded to people after that moment.

So, RMT.

What do you folks propose GGG do, that it isn't already doing?

Please bear in mind that GGG does not reveal the details of their current efforts against RMT, because that would undermine those very efforts. ='[.]'=

Ray, take off the rose specs.

Do you know, GGG don't monitor D*j*p forums because, well, players are clever enough to use different names.

And because of that, a player can actually use the exact same name on those boards as their PoE account name. They can advertise for FG, items that they also link in GGG's very forum.

They can sell items for FG, advertise in FG -> receive FG offer -> accept FG offer -> remove item from sales list and from GGG thread, receive FG and no longer have the items.

WITH THE SAME FUCKING NAME.

GGG's response?
Well you should report them.
Fuck that, I'm not reporting anyone when GGG won't even do the basics.

Then, when someone (not me) did report them, they get a ban, post on that other forum for people to watch out and warn that I (me TheAnuhart) is lurking and reporting (really funny, this). Admit to being too blatant and careless while knowingly breaking the rules repeatedly over a long period. Brag that they were tipped off and managed to move most stuff to another account. Be told by other posters they can get unbanned if they say they didn't know it was against ToU. And low and behold, the ban must have lasted all of a day as their post history right here had only a 1 day break.

I'll link you the thread, if you want, or just do as I did when someone pm'd me and told me to google

"The one who named me was TheAnuhart, he is lurking around on jsp and reporting people to GGG".

What I 'propose they do what they are not already doing', Ray, is either back up their stance and ToU or drop the pretence.

It's the pretence that bugs me.

I knew someone would come up with this.

Same names? Circumstantial evidence.

Suppose I went around with the user name Anuhart, and did all those bad things. Would that make you guilty? Should GGG ban you on that basis, alone? I didn't think so.

Yes, it stinks, yes, at least some of those miscreants are the same people, but, to prove it, hard evidence is needed. GGG could go ahead and swing the axe at all those so named, and would probably get a nice haul of RMTers. Once.

Then, amid a huge shitstorm of negative PR from those who would likely cite the very issue I just did, the guilty ones could simply smart up and, should they choose to start over, use different handles in their RMT activities.

Do you honestly believe that GGG allows this crap because they want to? I imagine there's a lotta bad feeling in-house about this issue, but, short of basing an ultimately fruitless ban-krieg on evidence which, on teh interwebs, amounts to bupkiss, they have to suck it up and use whatever other means they have.

So, you keep doing the right thing, report those who appear to be bad actors, and GGG will do what they can with that information. Just don't expect them to base a sweeping pogrom on it. ='[.]'=

OMG, you did exactly what GGG do.

I'm amaze..., actually, no, I'm not. It's pretty much exactly what I expected.

Look, Ray.
Evidence...
Guy using same name on both boards. OK, this can be a set up, a frame, a coincidence.
Selling the same items on both boards. Hmmm, starting to look a bit more like this is the guy.
Posting pics of ex Inv gear on a lvl 1 char in std. Guy did just RIP in inv and has made a lvl 1 std char.
Accepts FG offers for certain items. Oh look, those exact same items just became non-verified in the GGG forum shop.
Guy then gives a detailed run-down of his ToU breaking, his tip offs, his unloading of wealth and his plan to get unbanned via ignorance, while warning everyone else to be careful while they carry on violating ToU.

And you back up GGGs stance to not get past stage 1 because nobody would use the same name.

Lol. Did you even do that google?

And where do you imagine the tip off came from? Where exactly could it have came from, huh?

No, I can't 'keep' doing the right thing, as I have never reported anyone. And I won't.
I used this as a test case when someone showed it to me as evidence of how GGG DON'T act.
Sure enough, nothing happened.
Then, when someone else who challenged that this case existed was made privy, they changed their stance and THEY reported.

The guy appeared to be banned for ALL OF 1 DAY.

Anuhart, clearly, you and I have different notions of what constitutes hard evidence. Yes, the same names are being used, and one perpetrator even blatantly discloses his wrongdoing.

NONE of that definitively links activities off PoE with activities in game. Yes, to all appearances, the link seems clear. BUT-

Lacking a direct, system-related link, there exists a potential for reasonable doubt. It's all hearsay. Some guy (whether on not it's me, or somebody posing as me is immaterial) on DJSP could say, "Yes, I'm Raycheetah, and I did X, Y, and Z in PoE," but, unless it was observable in-game, it goes beyond GGG's ability to verify absolutely, which is the benchmark they have set for intervention.

As I said before, it stinks, but GGG errs on the side of caution, to a fault. That's their corporate culture, and I suspect we should be grateful they dun swing the other way.

If you dun like it, well, that's fine. I dun like that they have to do things this way, but I also understand. Anyway, what're ya gonna do? ='[.]'=

Pretty much nothing.

I won't report violators.
I won't support GGG any more.

Except.

Call their BS at every occasion they pretend to care about external currency trading.
Casually casual.

Have yet to see any free game do more than GGG about RMT. The main thing that's important is cutting supply which is mainly botting. Buyers don't matter much, big sellers with any influence are only possible due to botting.

Luckily GGG has been great against bots(and bots that advertise their sites). Just don't expect RMT to cease to exist. The only way that can happen for a free game is if it stops being popular.

The only BS I see here is coming from you. GGG employees will regularly encourage users to report and have great response time. Just because things don't always go the way of some reporters does not mean anything at all. High standards with evidence and focusing on the real issue(botting) is much better than even banning one innocent player.

Bans have happened frequently enough, that much is obvious for any longtime player. If you care so much then report, if you don't care to report then don't expect your complaints to be heard.
