Kripp: Path of exile is more like d3 now
" well in fairness he said that was well right? In poe now unique items drop like candy, everyones facerolling the game so hard that the meta has become almost completely about minmaxing speed farming efficiency, the chasm between the top builds and the regular just put a thing together builds is gigantic. In these respects its moved a lot towards D3. Shaped strand was basically the alkiezer run, now its what? Shaped vault? And there you go, alkiezer is running shaped vaults with a ww barb and thats the meta map to play because its the current min/max xp/wealth gain. D3 now has rifts, it has crafting benches, it has consumable currency to add sockets, it actually has an endgame. So they have become more like each other. He then says the problem is that diablo 3 is so void of features that everyone just plays poe, and again hes right. The item system in D3 barely exists, and that means while they now have crafting benches and build enabling items without an item system that has any meaning those things dont rly have meaning either, and since it doesnt rly have a build system you just pick some skills, the builds come from items, and the items are so limited and poor the build system that relies on them is also limited and poor. The endgame is just difficulty sliders, it just turns up and theres nothing interesting at all about the increasing challenge as a result, and since the items and hence crafting and builds are so shallow theres no real scope to have anything more interesting because you dont have the tools to overcome a diverse range of challenges. So he is right, D3 is empty, it starts with a poor item system + no real build system outside of the poor items and the knock on effect of that is that its a vacant game, its pointless when you have something like poe as an alternative. D3 did have the WW barb tho, I know that came back and despite its effectiveness it was mechanically a poor shadow of its former self. The first d3 whirlwind sprint barb: you go perm wrath of the beserker and spawn tornados from the sprint which then rapidly crit and generate wrath from into the fray rune on battle rage, but you then need to control spamming out your wrath globe so that you can keep generating more wrath and dont cap out because generating wrath pushes back the cooldown on WotB and this synergy allows you to perm cyclone, sprint and keep up wotb. That was the best build in d3 or poe. the mechanics behind it, the way it had an actual way you had to play it outside of just holding down the button, it was so far beyond any build in this game in terms of fun and skill to play. You could grab a random person, throw them on the character and they would not have been able to make it work, you would needed to have explained the function of all the skills involved and they would have had to practice to understand when to spam out sprints and warcries to drain their wrath and when to hold off to make sure they maintained enough wrath to fuel their attacks, when to leave a few mobs behind in the tornados to keep generating wrath as you sprinted to the next pack. There was moment by moment in play thought and skill behind it that does not exist in any build in this game, at all, and does not exist in any current d3 build either that I am aware of. And guess what they did? they nerfed it out of the game... could they just have reduced its damage so it wasnt so dominant? Yes, but they didnt do that, they mechanically destroyed it, because theyre fucking retards. their game died with that build, and the nailed the coffin shut by by taking a massive shit on the already lacklustre item system. That 1 random build had taken the gameplay aspect of arpgs to another level beyond anything that GGG have managed or anything blizzard had made before or since and they destroyed it. Words cannot express just how stupid a decision that was, instead of understanding what genius had randomly come from their skill system and working out ways to enable other builds that function like that, that actually have some skill to play outside of simply holding down the button until the monsters are dead, taking the genre from mathematical passives to actual fun in the moment action gameplay they just decided to remove it because it was too popular. That lack of care and inspiration, that idiot drive to destroy great things simply because people enjoy playing great, fun things is another blizzard trait that sadly ggg have adopted far too much. I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :) Последняя редакция: Snorkle_uk#0761. Время: 5 янв. 2018 г., 10:12:26

" One of the main dudes that helped kick-starting PoE when it was completely unknown, with his name registered in official GGG/PoE special thanks credit in game, yet somehow all the kids hate now. The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change. Welcome to PoE. Последняя редакция: Pewzor#2343. Время: 5 янв. 2018 г., 11:02:47

" not true. the game already has made millions when ggg discovered that streamers supposedly advertise the game for free. yes, until they turns against you (kripp) or get bored with your lacking power creep. for them it's leveling to 100 in a week or 3 days or gtfo. offline Последняя редакция: cronus#1461. I actually agree with him. Maybe lot of kids here not, but he is telling the truth. Just look how many USELESS skills or USELESS uniques Poe has. He is right.

D3 is more like PoE, as a Bike is more like a car than a wheel.
PoE, as "easy" as it may have gotten for us people who have played for years, is absolutely nothing like D3 other than the killing monsters and looting aspect. D3 is an arcade game. So much of it is played for you. Choice is superficial at best. PoE is an ARPG game. Character customization is deep and the limitations set on you are very few. The possibilities for builds are near endless in temp leagues, even more so in standard. Crafting capabilities are deep and rewarding and itemization is personal and exciting. Everyone who is trying to min/max their earnings in PoE may have forgotten their goals or made goals for themselves that are unfun to them. I've made 8 characters in each of the last 3 leagues. Many different builds and variations of the same builds. I've made my own builds to do the content I wanted and was able to fulfill my desires without the need to earn at the highest efficiency. I've gotten to play the market and make it rich by doing basic math and making smart purchases with my currency. I've enjoyed new content added to the game for free every few months for hours on end. D3 doesn't allow for most of the things described above. It isn't a deep game and the grind is for superficial reasons. I play leagues so long as I have goals. Once I've fulfilled them I move on. D3 has no real attraction in this regard. It's bland and builds are bland/samey.

Someone's garbage is someone else's treasure.
Amazing that two games that are built around the exact same base ARPG design - kill mob, get loot, get level, get skill, get stronger, repeat - have become somewhat more similar over the course of YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT. Sure, spiritually the games differed at the beginning (still the same base premise though), with PoE more "hardcore" with that crazy skill tree, and D3 based around item sets and much more limited skill options. But what do you expect over 5+ years of modification. There are only so many novel things to do to an ARPG. We may all be still hoping for the "next big thing" in ARPGs, but until then, all ARPGs are fundamentally similar. I can't play D3 for more than 12 hours and then I uninstall. About once a year. For me it is the Kentucky Fried Chicken of games. I occasionally get sucked in by the delicious smell and regret it soon after consumption. I've played PoE non-stop (aside from one 2 month rage quit) for 3 years now. However, I think I might smell some D3 close by............ Here is a selection of APRGs in my Steam Library (and otherwise on my laptop). Imagine the difference of opinion in all these, with same fundamental ARPG design: Grim Dawn - awesome, slow-ish. Decent itemization. Torchlight 1&2 - pretty good. Pets go to town to sell stuff! Fate and all it's forms - Cool straight dungeon crawl, great loot. Van Helsing 1&2 - meh - hated the loot design and the tower defense Warhammer Inquisitor - shit start so far. Looks great, gameplay is lacking Titan Quest (all forms) - awesome, very slow. Best itemization. Added too much crafting/collecting shit with expansion Wolcen - Seems great so far. Like the skill development. Needs more work Sacred 1&2 - 1 was great (except for too much respawn), 2 was terribad Marvel Heroes - Diablo with superheroes. RIP. Crafting shit/orbs got out of hand. Diablo 1 and 2 - Orgasm for your ARPG brain, and the gateway drug of my ARPG gaming addiction. Devilian - gross Din's Curse - added interesting town and war mechanics. Looks like shit. Meh gameplay Borderlands 1&2 - Sci-fi FPS ARPG. 1 was a masterpiece, 2 was a little annoying. kingdoms of Amalur - Fantasy 3rd person diablo kinda-sorta Vikings: Wolves of Midgard - shit loot system, looks great, world is meh Imperatum - Regret buy! Indie sci-fi ARPG clone that is just the worst Chronicon - Awesome bit graphic ARPG - no end-game yet. |

" Just to reply quickly to this, which is off topic but I totally 100% agree. I played that shit to death killing whites in Keeps Depth 3. They killed every build that was a fucking BLAST to play and would've kept me playing for a LONG LONG time! CM (archon and SNS), frostfire, OG nether tentacles, etc etc. Fucking shame dude and blizzivision deserves all the shit being shoveled on them for their decisions. https://getyarn.io/yarn-clip/988f3369-4b68-4eb9-bc0e-edfce4c3c950
