He is right though.

Like it or not, this time around you have to stack defenses and this guy has none. All he has is some life and MoM. Thats nowhere near good enough this league.

It is insanely hard to reach even 50% physical damage mitigation for hard hits (armor effectiveness drops as hits become harder). I agree that Tabula is not a great choice endgame. I think that full resists + 10k EHP should be pretty much enough for surviving any fast hit. That is even enough to survive Elder big spike with 32k cold damage which is by no means hard to avoid. And that is T17.

But guys in Syndicate are hard-hitting even by fast and bad-telegraphed attacks (like Haku's hammer throw). And there are often three those guys + a ton of other mobs which are also like a few levels above their actual levels.

I will say that 10k EHP + max ele and chaos resists is not enough for Syndicate. That is weird. Of course, I'm not about facetanking, but about using movement skills often.

Yeah it's a pretty shit league to experiment with builds. Have to go with tried and test or will get wrecked.

The oneshot vids of streamers reddit are popping up now. Most people who are saying that it's ok haven't played much yellow or red maps yet. Even then, RNG might be on some people's side as it's only certain combos that will one-shot. So the more you play, the more chance you have of encountering that one-shot.

GGG should have locked these one shot abilities behind safehouses instead of allowing them in random encounters during normal gameplay. Should have made it more like Breach league where everyone could enjoy killing hoards of mobs. Then if you wanted, you could go and fight the tougher Breach bosses with the breachstones. Not everyone enjoys fighting tough single mobs with one-shot abilities. That sort of content should be optional and not be part of the normal game as it completely kills build diversity. There's Elder, Guardians and Atziri for those who like that content.

1. have poor defenses (and bad chaos res re: it/tora)
2. rank up the syndicate members
3. damage mods on maps

i can't fathom why people blame the game when their 3.5k hp char with no shield and ~200 armor dies.

there are exceptions, obviously. but the above seems to more/less be the rule.

According to PoE DB Tora has only 20% chaos damage. A lie?

So, do you suggest never to rank up? That's not what devs intended.

what i'd recommend is for players to use their brains and actually weigh risk:reward regarding their options. is it a dangerous match-up for your build? maybe don't rank it up, then. or better, don't blame the game for your own bad decisions. there's plenty to blame ggg for, but a player's lack of defense/etc surely isn't that.

and tora? well, her toxic rain seems more brutal to me than any of the syndicate horror stories i keep hearing but never ever ever witness, myself (ie: janus, who i obliterate every time). but the slam of "it" seems to deal heavy chaos damage.

This is actually the very first league in which I'm watching youtube while playing. The most boring and random league I've played so far.
