Bandits and Griefing on Hardcore
While it wasn't particularly clever of the OP not to read the popup warning, it's not like it would have helped him a lot. Either choice could have been the wrong one, and there's no way out at this point as far as I know. Seeing how PvP in the PvE environment in Path of Exile isn't exactly common, I can understand the frustration. You simply don't expect this at all at this point.
Good idea, working as intended in general, but should be communicated before it's too late, or give players the option to leave the group at this point. It shouldn't be necessary to read the forums before you actually play the game to avoid such situations - something I never do in order to not spoil the game for me. As it is now, it will discourage new players from grouping because they can't be sure what other surprises the game has in store for them, which I don't think anyone wants. |

I love that feature. It is a great way to school kids who just mindlessly click everything without reading.
I can't believe someone would be playing this game without going through the full story experience with reading lore and everything) at least once. Последняя редакция: MikeX7#4773. Время: 29 янв. 2013 г., 05:33:19

I don't understand why so many people are like "flawed mechanic, promotes solo play, etc."
Consider that later on, team play will be hugely beneficial and will make things way easier for you. Consider also that tiny mistakes later could result in a grizzly death. What does that mean? It means you should find competent and trustworthy teammates, the sooner the better. The loot system and this quest mechanic are like a kind first hint. Don't be gullible, don't just trust anybody. Build a community of trustworthy players to venture out with. The only reason this promotes solo play is most likely people being too lazy to get to know their party members. For choosing not to even question your fellow players but most of all for choosing NOT to read the text and plan contingencies around it (for example voting last), you have been plainly careless. And doing this on a first playthrough on HC! You know what happens to careless people in horror movies? They get ripped to shreds... much like you did. You're lucky they didn't implement a quest where an NPC gives you the info on a choice to make and not remembering/not reading that info and picking the wrong choice gets you automatically killed. That would be totally a legitimate game mechanic AND you'd have tons of people whining. Here's some pointers for party play: - When you enter a party, say hi - Anyone who doesn't respond with something like "hey" is suspicious - Anyone who rushes excessively leaving tons of monsters in their wake is suspicious - Anyone lingering next to named loot that isn't theirs until the timer expires is very suspicious. |

"..and there are few activities more mature than "schooling kids on the internets"? It's a game. Let's pretend we at least have a nodding acquaintance with a grip and pretend to get it. FFA: The looting choice of Hardcore-Hero Manly-Men Griefers! Yo!

" I didn't read it on the forums, the moment I read the quest text I knew what could happen. It is so painfully obvious. Any reasonably prudent person in a party with strangers would opt to vote last after reading that for the first time. The text is clear, the interface is clear. Only person to blame is yourself. Hell, you're playing HC, you should have a "o shit gotta TP PRONTO" reflex building up as well as a "anything that can kill me will probably try... including other players". People who have played Demon's souls probably recognize similar mechanics at play. |

" Well, it didn't happen to me, so I am not blaming myself. :) The difference to Demon's Souls and Dark Souls is that you know PvP is part of the PvE game. It's common, it happens all the time, it's one of its basic mechanics. In PoE, it isn't. The problem is that you *don't* think that other players can kill you in PvE mode up to this point. Until it's too late and you have to make a choice. Unless you can still opt out at this point (don't think so, can you - serious question?) Again, the idea is fine. It just should be implemented so that the fact that others can kill you at certain points is communicated beforehand. They basically introduce an at this point surprising gameplay mecahnic that can instantly kill you. I am also not sure how it will play out if everyone follows your advice and waits until everyone else has voted. This could get boring. ;) Последняя редакция: Machmax#1037. Finally, this vindicates my frustration about how nowadays people are just too damn lazy to read 2-3 lines of text.
Yes, you should have seen it coming. Surely, if you can bother to rant about it, you could have taken the 10 seconds necessary to read the consequence of your choice. Would anybody like some... POUNDCAKE?

this sort of thing defeats the whole purpose of enabling cutthroat mode, and as such is totally inappropriate/buggy.

" Exactly :) I had a near-death experience with Kratyin (Cretin? :) thugs, when I already casted my vote and the two guys in my party decided to go back in town (I'm guessing not on purpose). The moment the others left the area, the doors slammed shut and the mob attacked me. The instance difficulty was set for three players, so I decided it would be better to abandon ship... :) When night falls
