Bandits and Griefing on Hardcore
lol You don't know me, or the people who griefed the OP. Killing noobs is fun for a lot of people and funny to a lot of other people. Remember, this is a video game. No one is really being hurt.
So the OP is new to the game, big deal. He wondered into hostile territory (public HC games) and got ganked for the lulz, big deal. He then came onto a forum and shared this experience and generated more lulz, big deal. Lesson learned for OP i hope. This is what online gaming is about to be perfectly honest. I celebrate what these guys did to the OP. It is stuff like this that forces you to stay on your toes in game. There is a risk and a reward to joining a party. If you get a good party, you get carried through content that you would have struggled on. If you join a bad party you die. Risk vs Reward. [/quote] Everything is a big deal. And just because someone is new to the game does not mean you or anybody else have to make his first experience miserable. And as for the ¨you dont know me or the people who did this¨ i dont need to, my post wasnt based on a psychoanalysis of you or them its the behavior archetype that you have in common with the people who did that witch would indicate poor social skills based on previous similar experience. That is why you think is ok or¨fun¨ then again i might be wrong. The whole idea is if indeed you meet new players make the game fun for everybody not just for you at their expense, they can also learn from you telling them about it not. Sorry for the rant here is a pic of some evil cheese :D http://modernwomansociety.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/evil_cheese_is_evil_by_quickman012.png "May those who accept their fate be granted happiness.

" Yeah, I take that back, I'm always upset when one when of my hardcore characters die, no matter what level it was or how long I played them. It's very frustrating, but that's part of the addiction of hard core - otherwise I'd stick to default. The point I was trying to make though was that the game mechanic in question isn't flawed, and shouldn't be changed to safety-net player choice. The dialogue states that if you or your party members disagree on whether or not to help the Bandits, you will have to fight each other. This goes along with the theme of taking responsibility for your character and your actions. I realize that in this specific scenario the OP was baited into a cheap death by bored players. That's not fair, but changing the mechanic to make up for this bad experience also is not fair. Having said that, Griefing is not OK. Intentionally misleading someone by posting a "Kill Oak" group, and then proceeding to kill unsuspecting players, is not OK. That is wrong. Последняя редакция: govaguy#3609. " So.... Without meeting, talking to, witnessing, or interacting with the people the OP told you about, you were able to psychoanalyze them? You got in my head based off a single sentence i wrote on an internet forum? Amazing. Look, in hardcore anything goes. This is a huge part of what makes it hardcore. Back in D2 days, i use to tell noobs about "a secret armor shrine". I would tell them they needed lots of gold (don't remember the exact amount) and that they would be able to buy enigma armor from it. They would go and farm gold, get back to me and ask me to show them how to get to the secret armor shrine. I would lead them into a field, go hostile and gank them. Walk off with their gold that was completely worthless. Remember this is a video game that carries no real world consequences. If groups of people were going onto ebay and griefing auctions somehow, or going onto facebook to post lies about a random stranger.... Then i would understand the moral concern. This is a video game though. It's not real. |

Hey look another mechanic that, just like FFA loot, is bad for social/party aspects of the game.

I think that all the relevant post that could be made have been made. Can someone please lock this?
Thanks. "May those who accept their fate be granted happiness.

" I think this conversation is just getting started. People seem to feel strongly one way or another about this. Even if this thread does get locked, the topic will remain. |

Keep in mind that everyone who complains about this game being "ruined" by this mechanic... there is a default league. Additionally anyone who dies on HC gets converted to softcore. I kind of wish it was like D2 where your character is permanently deleted, but this is already a really good compromise.
HC converted to softcore on death, so there is really no loss... you died because you didn't read a warning, and you didn't permanently loose your character... so what's the big deal? |
