Map drop rate Feedback (Updated!)

I leveled from 58 to 71 in act 3 merciless. I got a total of 2 maps.
I chiseled both and tried to get a mod that was relatively good for additional map drops.
I instantly ran out of maps anyways because i didnt get any maps inside those.
Additionally, the maps are insanely hard and i can very well imagine that a few people will just die and lose their first maps anyways.

Leveling on act 3 from 58 to 71 is already excessive imo, but now i am being forced to farm it even longer in order to get a map again, which doesnt even guarantee another map drop due to RNG.

I already said this in closed beta, but i will repeat it again.
Having to farm static areas for days in order to get a foot hold into the map system is disgustingly boring.
There is a geniusely thought out map system, but you are actually forcing us to farm static areas in act 3 instead.
I dont see any reason behind doing that except if you want to follow in the footsteps of D3 and make people ragequit the game because they got bored of farming act 3 forever.

Update:
I am level 74 now, almost 75. I have seen a total of 5 maps drop outside of maps.

Final Update:
I am now level 75 and i finally managed to get a foothold into the map system.
I am now at 7 maps in my stash, and as long as i keep rolling them correctly, i dont think i will run out of 66s again.

Over the course of leveling from level 58-75 in act 3, i got a total of 7 maps outside of maps, of which i lost 3 to disconnects.
The other 3 were not able to sustain my map count (i temporarily got up to 3 maps in my stash, then immediately went back to zero).
The last map i found (on level 75) yielded three maps inside.
From that point onward i managed to sustain my map count rather consistently.

My final verdict:
If you are playing on your own, it is almost impossible to get a foothold into the map system early on except if you get really lucky.
The reason for this is the heavy RNG that determines whether you get a map or not.
While the average map drop rate is more than sufficient to farm a steady supply of 66s, the heavy RNG means that solo players are utterly prone to not getting a foothold into the map system if they get unlucky (or averagely lucky).

If several people are farming for maps at the same time, the RNG is smoothened out between them and the average map drop rate is reached far more quickly than if someone is playing on his own, thus they get a foothold into the map system much more quickly.

Considering that the map count in the economy is only going to increase (atleast for 66s), the issue of heavy RNG being capable of screwing over solo players is going to diminish, because they will be able to buy maps off of other players.
Given the infantile map economy right now, this is a rather difficult task currently (buying maps that is), but im sure it will get better over time.

Final final verdict:
Make the last quest in merciless grant a map anyways, out of a very different reason:
People that dont know about the map system and are playing solo can happen to NOT come across a map while finishing act 3 merciless.
These guys can happen to never learn about the map system and quit the game before they find out that there actually is an endgame map system.
If the last quest in merciless was to grant a map, there would be no possibility of this happening.
Everyone will find atleast one map due to this quest, and then they will get curious about what the map system is about.

I was lvl 71 and had only 1 map drop.
Now i'm 72,5 and only 3 maps so far, really annoying.

great post. I agree with you, 66 maps should be more easy to get, nobody wants to farm act 3 for too long.

I am level 72 now and i got another map by now.
A total of 3 maps while leveling from 58-72 in act 3.

Since i wont get any map out of this map either, even with full chisel and a good mod, i will be back to farming act 3 again.

edit:
Chiseled the map, rolled 45% quantity on it and more magic monsters.
No map drops inside the map.

Now im about to level to 73 and am still forced to farm outside of maps.
This is getting plain painful.

Why's the map fail to load issue still not fixed?
With all the DC's going on during prime time in the EU zone, how do you expect ppl to run their hard earned maps?
If you're leaving PoE, chances are I'll rezz you as my minion! MWHAHAHAH
Almost level 74 and i still dont have any maps.
I did 4 maps total now and am out of maps again.
I don't seem to see a problem with map drops. I'm level 60 and in act2 farming Fellshrine and have collected 3 maps in the past day of farming. Have had friends pickup 2-3 as well. we also aren't really running alot of IIQ or IIR. RNG can be a b***** sometimes, so I feel for ya there. On a side note, drops in A3 seem to be way off in all difficulties, so maybe they need to adjust the % to drop of maps in A2, A3.
