Map drop rate Feedback (Updated!)

You are choosing to do fellshrine and faceroll the content. Go to barracks and deal with arc and shield chargers. Or lunaris 2 for fun with unrighteous fire and kole. How about lunaris 3 and farm peity.

I'm running lunaris 2/3. Over and over and over. If you have problems with those areas after level 66 then maybe it's your build that sucks?

The map drop rate is terrible. Yes I'm "overgeared" probably because I'm now level 73 and can't find fucking maps to actually do challenging/interesting content in. What am I supposed to do, downgrade my character on purpose to keep lv 63 areas challenging because the game is designed to have you sitting there the majority of your time? Jesus christ, defend good design with passion if you will, but that's not what's going on here.

It's shitty design for entry-level maps to be scarce, I'm sorry there's no other way to call it.

And then when I do find maps, see above for what happens (lol!)

It seems fine to me.

Are you running maps alone? I have a small group of friends and we map share, don't think we will ever run out. we started with 2-3 each and now have 6-7 each. If you are running maps solo, you are doing it wrong.
Why does it matter if I'm running maps alone or not? Is solo supposed to be a retardo-grind for maps? Why would that be?

Main reasons I don't play groups right now:

-I'm melee and in groups the screen is impossible to read from all the casting/totems/bullshit, which I guess is fine for a caster/ranged that just spams AOE from a distance, but for melee that's just not enjoyable.
-Friendly summons and totems being targetable = can't find your targets even if you're in the right spot.
-My group of friends hasn't hit end the of Merciless yet, they're a little more casual than I am.

Doing maps in a group doesnt increase the map drop rate.
The only thing that increases map drop rate is quantity find on the map itself.
If you are posting about stuff that you dont know too much about you are doing it wrong.

Doing maps in a group has other benefits.
You can farm lower level maps separately and therefore increase your chances of getting higher level maps.
Once you have these higher level maps, you can share them with your mates in order to maximize the amount of time everyone is spending inside of higher level maps instead of lower level maps.
Probably the best solution to this is to buff map drop rate for solo players.

If one person runs a map, he gets 100% drop rate. If he finds a map, he re-uses it.

If a party of 5 runs a map, they get 300% drop rate (+50%/person). If they find a map, the entire party can use it (we're assuming these aren't random pub players banding together).

So you see parties of 5 have 3x more map drops than a solo player would, but they both get equivalent value out of using a single map. And this is ignoring if the party is able to itemize DPS in such a way as to buff their rarity/quantity further.

Read the post above yours.
You dont get additional map drops in a party.

The only other benefit you get out of a huge party that farms for maps seperately (if they dont have any to begin with) is that they are less prone to bad RNG.

And groups can roll better maps, since their pooled resources allow it.
There just needs to be some sort of mechanism that guarantees a minimum level of access to level 66 maps. Something more frequent than once in 5 levels of Act 3 farming. The drop rate doesn't need to be globally increased - just do something to make sure maps never drop less frequently than whatever magic number GGG thinks would be acceptable.

Maybe a recipe that rewards a white 66 map, like someone else mentioned above.

Maybe let one of the vendors sell one map a day.

Maybe make the chances of a map drop increase slightly per kill, or per experience earned, or per hour of play time, until one does drop, then revert back to the standard rates and start slowly increasing that chances again.

There are several possibilities. They might have details that need to be worked out, but it's certainly possible to prevent the long dry spells that are upsetting people.

This. In CB I ran maps with one other person. We could pool resources and roll harder mods on higher level maps that would have been more difficult to solo. After the initial entry barrier we never ran out of maps.

To the op: if you're having the shits of farming, wait until more people reach end game and the map economy gets rolling.

To Moose: Act 3 Merciless is not "end game" no moreso than Fellshrine or Pyramids were end game a month ago. It merely raises the level cap. The want / need for alternate / non-itemized end game content still exists, and I still believe it should be added and maps be made rare and exclusive again, something special to deviate briefly from the "common" end game.

You all will probably hate me but i have 9 maps with 2 lvl 69 chars so i disagree that map drops are scarce. This subject has come up a lot in the closed beta and if you are new to the game there are several tips to help you stay with a supply of maps.

1. Have friends you trust. You can share maps thus increasing the supply.
2. there are several desirable mods that have no impact on quality but can increase map drops like the maze mod or increased pack size mod.
3. maps tend to drop in maps so make sure you have a decent supply in case rng takes a dump on your plate. you will notice that maps tend to drop in bunches. i.e. 3 maps no map drops. 1 map 4+ map drops.

By taking these tips into account it is not difficult to reach an equillibrium where you never run out of low level maps. (climbing the map ladder is a whole ither ball game that requires payience, resources and of course excellent luck.)

Good luck, i feel your pain. i really do but sunce it is actually possible to reach an equillibrium with maps i wouldbsay that the map drop rate seems fine to me. by raising the drop rate there is the potential risknthat there aee too many and then people will statt wanting kre content :D.

P.s. typed on ky phone so pls forgive the mispellings.

#1 does not apply to solo players
#2 i've been doing and it hasnt helped
#3 just means frontloading your farming time and does not affect the ratio of drops to no drops in the long run

In general your suggestions are just kinda bad. But im glad you had a lucky run with rng.
