Damage reflection is death for witches
Then it's a matter of picking off the mobs one by one using single target stuff and debuffs. If the reflect only applies to initial damage not post amp damage then it should be fine.

I don't think the main problem is that you can one-shot yourself in certain situations, but rather this:
" Sure, it's a different "tactic", but it's also a boring war of attrition, and I'm fairly certain that people are just going to do their best to skip it instead. Now if that's the point - to just scare people off - then it will probably work as intended simply because most people are risk averse and seek the path of least resistance (and the history of MMOs and other online RPGs tell us that they're typically quite good at finding it). But if the point is to promote tactical diversity, then I'd call it obviously inferior to Slicer's suggestion simply because I don't think non-engagement is a tactic that belongs in an ARPG. |

Okay.
If you can't, under any circumstances, get instakilled by using a SINGLE TARGET spell, -- is this correct? -- then all this talk about reflection being overpowered is bullshit, and I retract my "warning" comparison with Iron Maiden, because obviously this is not the case. And yeah, if people continue to spam AOE spells blindly and then complain about instadeath by reflection aura, then it's their own fault. Case closed, i guess. Последняя редакция: atrokkus#1077. " I'd have to very strongly disagree, especially when there are people playing Hardcore. Iron Maiden was such a problem in Chaos Sanctuary in Diablo 2 that it eventually got removed, because getting killed due to no fault of your own sucks. And this is much the same way, as if the boss with the aura wanders into range while an AoE or two is out... |

This really just isn't cool for HC players.
Since I sometimes play on 3 monitors, I can tell you that spells travel well beyond what you can see on 1 screen. You can very easily hit Elemental Reflect mobs without having seen them. I kill stuff left and right (literally) that is just not visible to people who play on one screen. Travel spells like fireball really don't care about teh edge of your vision. I m slightly appalled at seeing a statement that claims instant dead, quite possibly from off-screen, is a lot more fun than not having this in game. It feels like being griefed by the actual designers... |

Pay attention to what Chris actually said:
"He's talking about combinations of auras, which implies that you've wandered around and aggro'd more than 1 rare with an aura. You will not 1-hit kill yourself with a stray Fireball unless you've completely ignored defense. This is actually less of an issue for most Hardcore characters, as they tend to be more defensively-built than Default characters. Closed Beta/Alpha Tester back after a 10-year hiatus. If you try to use Shock Nova against a hoard of reflecting mobs then you're a moron. There's no two ways about that. People should learn to play intelligently.
If someone can show me a instance of their character being killed in a single shot from full health and energy shield while using a single target skill against a single boss monster then gladly I will agree that the aura is too powerful. Otherwise there's no real valid argument to the contrary. As for elemental reflect, Witch wands deal physical damage. Consider not ignoring them when putting your build together if you intend to play solo. Forum Sheriff

" Someone who just encountered a reflection boss. " Well, if you're going to just spam shock nova against a large group with a reflection boss, then it's your own fault if you die. " The whole point is that you can't "plow right through it" |

I think you guys missed the part where I said that I didn't see the reflection boss due to lag. Also, because there's a cast speed delay, it's very possible for something to go "oh hai thar" when you're in mid-cast.
Similarly, because you can cast Firestorm into rooms you can't see, that's gone as a tactic- if there's a reflection boss around the corner with a nice mob pack, you're toast. Also, the presence of these things means that you cannot possibly use any skills like the Lightning Traps or Hydra from Diablo 2, at least not in HC. Where would you dare cast it? And I meant that you'll plow right through your own eshield with a lot of damage. NotSorry: Bot d3 for cash, play POE all day CaptainBurns: The game is just a means by which to kill things. Just curious: The physical reflection aura, does it work just like IM? If I use a ranged attack (or a Leap Slam), does the reflection take affect?
I kept some nice throwing spears on switch with my melee chars when playing CS in D2, just for IM. =^[.]^= =^[.]^= basic (happy/amused) cheetahmoticon: Whiskers/eye/tear-streak/nose/tear-streak/eye/
