what keeps you/prevents your solo/SF?
I have a couple reasons for playing SF
The primary one is that this poor computer is 8 years old and stutters badly. Opening a strongbox can be a frame freezing death sentence and maps with four projectiles or chaining wreak havok on my frames. There's also the fact that as a new player of just over a month I know nothing of the unspoken rules of parties in this game or how item drop mechanics function in them. I also have no idea how to gauge the currency economy yet since I have been so busy gearing and figuring out even just the preferred stats for one build on just one class. There's more subtle ones though. For one I am afraid that party play will make the game too easy, making rewards fall into my grasp with a feeling of triviality. This is my first character, and I want its journey to be earned clawing and grasping my way to power. D3V has given me an very intense fear of ruining the item progression by buying everything I need and taking away the magic of truly attaining your gear. At this stage I would probably only be playing with someone I already know for fear of being too weak because I hate being carried and I'm terrified of being brazenly taken advantage of by an unscrupulous trader. It would be a different story if someone were to take me under their wing and bear with drilling the basics I need to know into my head about everything, especially the economy, but that sort of player is rare. The more More you have, the less Less matters

I'll give you my reason for playing self found.
The learning curve and entry into the trading 'marketplace' is very prohibitive for non-pros who havent yet invested 100+ hours. I'm on my 2nd level 67 approaching the wall of no progression, and am not looking forward to what awaits me. The community can be helpful, but is often a hindrance as well, and simple things you dont realize that are huge put offs, can keep people who can trade, from trading. Acronym 4 acronym v acronym for acronym acronym l2 acronym 04 ASAP Thats what trade chat often sounds like. But between the deep learning curve in general (Im just now doing my masters dailies in a hideout i just created), the EXTREME rarity of valuable uniques resulting in total ignorance of what's available, and the sheer amount of constant internet surfing researching content, which is sometimes outdated... leads me to spend my 'relaxtion block of 8 hours' on a given saturday in game killing stuff with my character I enjoy. Rather than basically taking online courses to learn the jargon and systems to be able to trade properly. It'll come eventually I'm sure, but if you kidnap a player on his first char at level 50 and put a gun in his mouth and scream "MAKE ONE SOLID TRADE FOR A GOOD ITEM YOU NEED FOR YOUR BUILD OR ILL BLOW YOUR FUCKING BRAINS OUT" ,well, you're gonna have to pull the trigger. |

Hi
I play solo and GGG hates it! Been soloing since CB and GGG has only continually belittled the idea of solo play; some silly Dev thinks everyone wants to play together in parties and hold hands while drinking tea. GGG loves to punish the solo player with shit chunky gear progression that basically forces a player to team for better drops or play through a character a few times over. Each new area you progress to also basically needs new gear so this game has become a gear check mainly: got my shavs, check. The big joke is its all horribly programmed to punish the player with an over abundance of RNG. I loved solo melee the most but GGG went and messed that up (and won't admit it) also so if you really want to solo play ranged oriented characters because the disparage of melee knows no bounds having become Captain Gear check. With such bad RNG a player can play for days without getting a decent drop since everything seems to roll shitty low rolled mods 99% of the time, the humor in this though is that a player will get lots of useless rares and the occasional crappola unique in the mean time. -GO AND REMOVE THIS DIFFERING OPINION GGG I DARE YOU- cheers Conan: Crush your enemies. See them driven before you. Hear the lamentations of their women.
Never dance with the Devil because a dance with the Devil could last you forever... -I thought what I'd do was,I'd Pretend I was one of those deaf mutes- Nullus Anxietas:) |
