How many divination cards are actually helping gameplay and how many are just trolls?
isnt the HUMILITY just a Divine orb? but split into 9 pieces?

" The implication is that players will be realistically be able to farm for the items that they want. Targeted farming and systematically all imply that. Why the fuck would you write all that up and say 'hey will uh just kidding our drop rates are so bad you won't find half that shit unless you trade.' Seriously, the drop rates on some of the items are indefensible. A tabula rasa at this point is worthless compared to some of the other uniques I have found, and yet the cards are so rare that it's ridiculous. Some of these things are completely out of wack, and you cannot possibly defend it. It's just like how you were attempting to somehow justify Abyssal Tempest when clearly everyone and their mother knew it was overtuned. Последняя редакция: allbusiness#6050. " And with this we are done, either re-read my post a couple of times and try to comprehend what i am saying to you, or don't bother at all with responding if your going to put your personal opinion in there as an argument constantly. Since it holds no relevance at all. Ill say it again in big hefty bolded letters this time REALISTICALLY IS A PLAYER DEFINED THERM AND HOLDS NO RELEVANCE IN THIS DISCUSSION AND IS NOT MENTIONED BY GGG ANYWHERE Get it in your head, what you find realistic will not be realistic for somebody else. A broad therm like that holds no meaning and GGG purposefully utilized "targeted" and "systematically" and even hints at the fact you will "FIND AND TRADE" for these cards. so again stop putting words in "GGG's mouth" they aren't even using. It doesn't help your argument, instead it accomplishes the opposite effect. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes

I love the cards, even though some seem about as rare as mirrors. ;)
To be honest though, many of the cards trade in for very rare stuff, and it was obvious that they would be almost impossible to farm. You can't really blame GGG for that, but rather the supporters who were aiming for too rare items. Or, the supporters wanted really rare cards, for the long game, that's also a definite possibility. :) I'm personally very happy with my card (Gemcutter's Promise), and I've been farming it obsessively for awhile. A long-time meta game I've had on my own is that whenever I find a 15% or higher skill gem, that will be my next build if I haven't done it before. I just find that amusing, and that was a main drive when I made my card. I like to be surprised! So far my grind has paid out, I've now no less than 4 distinct possibilities for my next builds! All very suitable to me, I've been on the melee bandwagon for a long time now. Time to change things up, hehe. | |
I kinda like some of the cards. Not only because they give me something I want in a different way, but also because they motivate me to go to other areas I would not normally farm in. This is exspecially true for Cruel and early Merciless. I went to Western Forest instead of Fellshrine because I wanted Incantation.
I would say that the hype around divination cards was a bit too much. When I first heard about them I thought it was a way to modify maps to drop different items. That adds even more hazards to the map, so you could use a divination card that adds a hazard and gives a certain bonus. A few examples for the things I had in mind.

"Brimstone"
Negative Effect: Fireballs randomly fall from the sky and deal damage to players and leave burning ground Item-Shift: Items are more likely to drop with Fire mods "Glacier" Negative Effect: Frostwalls appear randomly around around the player Item-Shift: Items are more likely to drop with Cold mods "Ancient Knowledge" Negative Effect: Rare Enemies are possessed by the knowledge of an ancient spell they use periodically against you Item-Shift: Enemies drop the spell-gem they are possessed with on death with random quality and experience So when Divination Cards where announced I was kinda disappointed since just collected cards wouldn't provide any interesting new gameplay mechanics, of course larger change might be out of the scope of even such a big expansion, but I was kinda dissapointed. After seeing the cards in Beta and now on life I kinda like them, because they are better than what I have expected. Most supporters did a good job on Art and Lore so in the worst case they are a nice meaningless addition. They are rare enough to not break the economy and quite a few are meaningful enough that you feel excited about them. The one big complaint I do have though is that they all look the same in your inventory... |

" THEN WHY WOULD YOU ADVERTISE A FEATURE IF REALISTICALLY 99% OF YOUR PLAYER BASE IS NEVER GOING TO EVEN COMPLETE A COLLECTION (I.E. ON A DECENT UNIQUE LIKE TABULA)? You cannot advertise a feature if realistically it's almost an impossible feat to pull off. That's just dumb. This is why many of us believe Divination Cards to be stupid. Even if we could justify the absurd drop rates of the Justicars, Brittle Emperors, etc. we cannot justify the low drop rate of cards like the Gambler, Three Faces, Scholars, etc. which are predominantly useless cards. " Because "BETA" is a developer defined therm and holes no bars in this disgustion which was not mentioned by GGG anywhere anyway. |

" Irrespective of the underlying debate, I do wish this argument would just die. 1) No one's asking for a Shavs and Mjolners-only league. This is a misrepresentation. At best they are asking for the goalposts to be moved closer. Not that I blame you, because even Chris Wilson is on record for saying this kind of thing. 2) The continuing presence of long-time streamers and other high-profile players who, historically, have always gotten the drops they wanted (through donations or trading) and who continue to relentlessly play and craft new builds, should be enough to disabuse people of the notion that a more rewarding game does not necessarily result in the game being abandoned. If this is a worry, then the problem is probably not that the game is too rewarding, but that it is shit. Of course, armchair psychologists and economists continue to say otherwise, when in fact, point 2 is self-evident for most actual people. Do take a step back and observe just how often the economy and economic participation figures in PoE marketing. It does not. There's a good reason for this. Think about it. Have you made a cool build using The Coming Calamity? Let me know! Последняя редакция: ephetat#3689. Время: 21 июл. 2015 г., 15:32:49

" Can somebody post me a "that's just like your opinion man.jpeg"? 1) set's are being completed on a daily basis I already traded in roughly 12 sets or so in total and have around 17 cards left in my stash. 2) it isn't an "almost impossible feat" to complete a set, you farm some and you buy the remaining pairs from the trade channels if you can't be arsed to spend the full time before completion. 3) gamber/three faces/scholar are solid cards, that's just like your opinion stretched into a generalization. Which again, is biased an irrelevant, just like pretty much your entire post's up to this point. To give you an example, for me "personally" a realistic time-frame to farm a complete set of the brittle emperor would be around 3 months of farming 2 hours each day. Which would be 186 hours of farming the dried lake. See what i mean by "realistic" being a "personal" viewpoint and as such irrelevant. Now i have a whole set of reasonings why i think that's a justified time-frame to obtain a volls devotion "self-found", but those are irrelevant. You seem to lack any clue of overall balance impact on the game with these cards and how easily they made certain goals to obtain, your loss i imagine. " Your points are valid, but the goal post's aren't being prolonged to punish players, but to extend the competition and there potential strategical impact in it. For the thing to happen that you desire (shorter goal post's and more "family-player-friendly" drop rates if i can call it that?) 1) standard needs it ladder removed. 2) a league itself needs to be created without a ladder that can flow in this ladder-less standard. Since 1) will not or is very unlikely to happen, naturally 2 can also not occur. Peace, -Boem- Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes
