We need an in-game trading system.

After playing PoE off and on for some years now, I gotta say, in game trading needs to happen. It frustrates the vast majority of players that we don't have it, it seems to be a minority that doesn't want it. It's genuinely just a hassle to trade the way it is now. Something needs to change.

Is there an official response from GGG concerning this? Are they completely adamant that they will never do it, or is there room to explore the options?

Its the 24/7 nolife flippers benefiting from the current flawed system that dont want it. It would ruin their "business".

Right!!!!
And you don't know how much pleasure i would feel in seeing all the flippers/traders fall out miserably
Just don't make auction plz. The option to place ur stuff on sale in game is cool, but don't make option to Buy it from npc auctioneer. It will break this unique PoE trading charm no other game has. So my suggestion is to move poe.xyz inside the game, so u can place ur stuff ob sale from the game, but if u want to buy smth u Must meet the Seller personally.

An "exquisite pleasure" to try in vain to meet the seller personally for hours, right -.-'

Other games used to have a system like that in the past. There's a reason why today no other game seems to use it anymore. (It also relays on a third party site which takes you out of the game. Imagine what it'd be like with only the trade channels).

What is actually the benefit of having to meet the seller personally? Why is it good?

The transaction follow this pattern:

1. You look at poe.trade for something you want.
2. You whisper the person. This step may need to be repeated x times.
3. You ask if they still have the item.
4. You meet with them in Act 1 or in their Hideout.
5. You move stuff in the trade window, hover over it, accept, say bye and leave.

In what way did the game or the experience of playing it increase by these steps?

One argument is that it helps the social bonding between players, but I feel that this is largely a romantic view, because this is what it is almost always like:

You: WTB your item!
Him: Sure! Give me 10 minutes to finish my map.
You: *idles*
Him: My HO. (New player may respond, "No, I'm not!")
You: Thanks, bye.
Him: Thanks, bye.

It is about as robotic and formulaic as buying something from an Auction House. It just costs time, causes downtime, interrupts the gaming session (both yours and theirs), and if anything, it promotes resentment of other people more than friendship. ("God, he's so slow. MAN, he's still not finished with his map. WTF is taking him so long! WHAT THE HELL, he logged off!!!!")

I play self-found these days, so really, it doesn't matter to me much now. But I play in part self-found BECAUSE I don't want to deal with the above in my recreation time. There are other reasons too, but that is one of them.

player1: *copy pasted message from poe.trade*
player2: *invites*
player2: my ho
player1: ty
player2: thx

such a pleasure.

Improvements are slated and needed. What I can tell you is GGG specifically said on multiple occasions PoE would never have an AH, which implies automatic trading.

If you can imagine a system where you can search and list items in game, with perhaps a limited form of sending items via mail, thats about as easy of a system as GGG will ever do.

Most concerning though is saying it seems a minority are the only ones opposing this. The ones happy with trade or at least not wanting something vastly different aren't going to respond to the weekly or bi-weekly threads that ultimately achieve nothing. This game wasn't made to cater to the "majority" of anything, so suggesting that GGG follow that logic in this topic, despite them specifically saying they wouldn't do an AH is just asinine IMO.

But that leads to a larger topic\discussion of PoE's constant progression to homogenization.

In what specific ways would an in-game Auction House affect game play that the current 3rd party Auction House (poe.trade) does not?
