Melee Balance. With 600 upvotes, I think this deserves a little attention from GGG

Melee leech is also pretty fucked up. I don't believe it would even be unbalanced if melee had legacy leech.

The problem I have with just buffing melee is its fine relative to content. As video shows uber is possible with good gear. It's not fine relative to spells/range. Thats a different issue.


Except you're stationary when laying traps. You're stationary when you're shooting.

You can also DPS on the move with Cyclone. You can DPS on the move with earthquake. You can kite with reave. Sounds like you're just using bad skills. After all, there's a reason archers don't use burning arrow.
I like how all of your builds are ranged but here you are in any melee thread trying to talk like you know anything about it.

You seem to be forgetting that range builds have MORE TIME to react because theyre at a distance and that theyre already ignoring the largest hits (large physical melee hits) because theyre not being wailed on at melee range.

Your entire argument is flawed by even the most base mechanics.

Nope, my most successful character to date (that I bopped twin core with) was a blade vortex. So no, not ranged at all. In fact, hard to get any closer than a conc effect blade vortex.

Edit: also, ranged ignoring large melee hits? You mean you can't see that GIANT VAAL SOLDIER or GIANT SKELETON before you go in? Are you serious? Also, things like Vaal/Dominus/Malachai smash are all a case of "oh hey, look, he's winding up, let me take 2 seconds to move."

There are very few effects that are so completely deadly to a close-ranged character that a ranged character ignores. It's basically volatile blood, and the vuln-on-hit miscreations in Lunaris/Atziri if you kill the cycloner before last. Oh right, and Brutus/Kole. Again, those big slow heavy-hitting mobs should be prerequisites as to a decent melee build.

You dont know what youre talking about and i find it quite hilarious how you think proccing spells = melee.

Youre literally comparing a spell that resets crit everytime it rotates, and does quite literally hundreds of thousands of DPS with relatively no investment to a melee build which wont even break 100k DPS without a good weapon.

Again, youre completely ignoring issues while using strawmans like "Muh telegraphed attacks" which arent even what melee hard to play but i dont expect someone who copy pastes builds to understand that.

I wish Blade Vortex reset duration every time it hit. No such luck. And oh boo hoo, I took inspiration from a couple of other builds, cry me a fucking river. 10% master surgeon flask sort of limits one's options. And BV requiring no investment? Hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. The only time it's' actually better than CoC discharge is at obscene levels of investment.

I understand that blade vortex rotates around you for a duration. You said that a melee build can't get a lot of DPS. I linked to a random-ass build that got a lot of DPS. Also, guides are a bit of a popularity contest that also depend on lots of videos and god knows what other bells and whistles. EG I dropped twin core with my pathfinder build, and it has barely any discussion.

And yes, I saw what it took to achieve. A 6L katana, vessel of vinktar, and poison, with assassin ascendancy, and possibly abyssus. Yeah, it's squishy as all hell most likely, but so what? It's a proof of concept that states that no, melee doesn't have tooltip scaling problems, and you can get obscene damage if you felt like it.

If you want to play a more tanky, defensive melee build, then how about not bitching when you don't have the damage and clear speed of a ranged crit build? Ranged builds would like to have 7k+ life with tons of armor and possibly max block as well. Only way I see that happening is with a rearguard pathfinder, either with a CoC ranged build, or abusing frost wall.

Either way, complete gimmick.

And I get what you melee players are talking about. That "clicking on the monster is clunky and melee splash doesn't give me GMP lightning arrow AoE!"

Suck it up, and play a better melee build.
