I'm still a long way off from retirement homes but if I have to choose one some day, I'll have a simple question:

What are the specs of the hardware, do you upgrade it regularly and how's the net?

Will ask the same questions and how globe girls are in the retirement home aswell :D

You have to be realistic about these things.

You know you're done playing PoE when...

...you come to this forum to talk about politics.

OP I was like you in open beta, when I was very passionate. Then I slowly downgraded my expectations and now that PoE is "just a game", I'm not frustrated by BS design or lack of basic QoL features. (yesterday I found 3 empty tabs all the way behind 200 RO & race reward tabs - the fun I had dragging them to the front!!).

We will play Breach and abuse all the meta-opie-op skills that GGG prepared for us, then hit the red maps progression wall, get bored and go back to Std to experiment. And so on... cant wait for Act5. It will be great!

Crit, ES, Blade Flurry... go go go!!

Back in the stone-ages... when I was a kid... we actually learned how to enjoy ourselves. We learned to play. Kids these days aren't allowed to play. They have "play-dates" instead where the parents all plan what their kids are going to do for the afternoon.

You can have fun with a stick... if you know how. You don't.

You're set in the mindset that play has to be done for you. You blame the game for not being fun when it's really you not knowing how to have fun.

Are you like me and had an Apple II+ to play Wizardry, Akalabeth, Bard's Tale, Ultima series, etc. on. I figured there can't be many PoE players that go back that far in their rpg history. Most players probably never played D1.

Hoverver, GGG has lost sight (maybe never had it to begin with) that with computer gaming there should be an emphasis toward QoL and QoP comforts and that making us use a stick when they should give us a modern convenience (trading for example) is just so wrong. Hardcore and hard to play (because the function is clunky or broken) are not synonymous.

Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Dude... I played on an old unix machine before they even had monitors. Punchcards for the win! Think it was 1968... or there abouts.

Trading is what has ruined the game for you. Don't do it. It's a cheat. You would have much more fun learning to play with what the game provides.

You think its fun for a couple of weeks each new challange league and complains?

Enjoy your few weeks every 2-3rd month instead :)

I personally am good and having fun (mostly) all the way to level 80 on each build which usually is well over 1 month. I've read many posts from others that say challenge leagues are only good for first 2 weeks. I guess these players are the ones that can rush a build to level 90 in 2 weeks.

When GGG proclaims the atlas is the greatest feature since sliced bread and you're stuck trying to advance a build because the needed maps won't drop

I stopped reading there, just another frustrated noob who likes to blame the rest of the universe instead of himself.

Put in the time or trade for them, simple.

I'd love to trade just as soon as I can trade for anything without the "hunt for the seller" bullshit. I'd be the first to praise GGG if they added asynchronous trade function.

Well, you should have been around long enough to recognise the name, and that he plays self-found. (And this is probably another dig at GGG "balancing" the loot around trading for gear rather than relying on finding it oneself).
But really, calling someone a noob when they've been on a year longer than you, and mention this later in the very same thread...

... that's surely a noob mistake?

Balancing loot drops around trading is fantastic... oh rat's... I'm afraid the trade mechanics will be quite dysfunctional forever. I'd love to trade when I don't have to play "hunt for the seller" sub-game. Give me asynchronous trade GGG and I'll shut up forever.

Take a break, come back when 3.0 hits. No need for salt.
I'm actually a pepper user more than a salt user. But I know what you mean, burnout is time to take a seriously long break from PoE. I'll be mostly skipping Breach unless I find there is a skill that is OP FotM and follow a build guide so I don't have any excuse for not getting to upper 80s levels.

It's good to get a post now and then from others who are not the 1% top players (yes I use the E word way too much). I think most of the average players never post and millions of average rpg gamers came here, tried PoE, and are now long gone forever. I know a game company can't please all players and their skills but GGG sure knows how to be exclusive for the top 1% quality of players. I have been in since CB PoE (next month will be 4 years and counting) and in all that time I've remained a PoE loyalist through all problems (desync being the worst) and am still a fan of PoE. Err... say what?... still a fan of PoE?... how's that possible given the frequent posts like this one that is more negative than positive you say? Simple, I believe the potential of PoE to be greater than it is now and surpass D2 (PoE already has surpassed D3) is still there and if GGG would code in a few more QoL features for us (asynchronous trading is at the top of my wish list) then most of the negative posts (from all) will disappear.

Thanks for the (non-troll, non-bashing me) comment Morbo.

Edit: Blade Flurry? Hmm... I've read a few other posts that think it might be the go go go skill for Breach league. One to watch on December 2nd.
