Bestiary is a complete waste of time
Tried to like it, and I just don't. Trying to time a mobs death in a game that has always been "kill shit fast" is an ignorant concept to start. Needing to target a mob (mouse over it) to trap it in a game that's largely built on spamming damage in areas makes no sense. The whole concept is counter to how the game is built, if it was a tab target game sure, but it's not.
I hated ascendancy for a long time, I still do actually, but at least there was a defined quality reward. This is asinine game mechanics for an extremely rare chance of a decent item. No thank you, I'll pass. Might be fun to the uber min max guys that have to have the absolute best possible chance ever to get the slightest chance to get a new fun shiny item but for the vast majority of players, for sure casual ones, it's an absolute waste of time and effort. |

I assume the league specific ones are good. If I know what they did I'd think so probably.
Otherwise yeah - shit load of busy work for not much reward. Hate it. I may migrate from SSF to trade and say fuck capturing these altogether and go clear speed meta/trade. Git R Dun! Последняя редакция: Aim_Deep#3474. Время: 5 мар. 2018 г., 22:43:56

I think most people get used to the play style ginding like a machine won't like this league. Recipes make you aim to a specified purpose, but the traditional grinding style is endless loop spamming maps and there is no real purpose.
In another way, this league perfectly suit for beginners or poor players Последняя редакция: cuocdoitan#5719. Время: 5 мар. 2018 г., 23:04:23

" I'm a "poor" player who doesn't play the trade game, yet I still don't really get the benefits of Bestiary. Sure it's good for SSF, but since I'm allowed to trade I'd rather just run through the acts, cap new beasts and get to high enough level where I can buy a pair of 30% ms boots and whatever else. There is no real point in hunting down beasts and doing beastcrafting. Though I did get my first movement boots from Mud flats and beastcrafting. I admit that that would've been nice, but whether it's my RNG or some drop adjustments by GGG, the next three pairs of rare boots I dropped in act 1 also had 10% ms. And because my beastcrafted boots had no life, they got swapped out before I was halfway done with a1. So I just wasted time with that. Learnt from it, and aside of a "shits and giggles" unique item beastcraft I haven't wasted time messing with the system. |

" This was my first character in this league so I was broke, but I wasn't ignorant I can realize a bad concept and this was just bad from the way you have to target, to the whole almost kill but don't (two concepts this game isn't built for) I could see early it was a cluster fuck but I tried to like it. It just has zero element of fun and it's wrapped up in a RNG for a reward. Ascension is trash (IMO) it's boring and zero fun I hate that it was ever brought into the game and hope whoever developed it never gets laid again in their life as punishment for pushing that as a good idea. That said at least yu know when you finish it that you get a defined skill you can pick. This is asinine AND a RNG crap shoot. |

yep complete waste of a league. lvl90 and haven't caught a single mob and dont plan on it unless they add a reason to... imo this was an update for ppl who play 3-5 hours a week to have something extra to keep them interested in the two months it takes them to get to maps in hopes they buy a supporter pack..
bring back the state of the game in 1.3 vaults of atziri patch

" I think the main problem is that the intent of Beastiary mechanics is inherently antithetical to game balancing and design decisions made in the last ~7 or so leagues. For almost 2 years now GGG has made the game significantly faster and characters more powerful with each version, starting with 2.2's Ascendancy expansion. The latest nail in the coffin were the Shaper/Elder items from 3.1's War for the Atlas expansion. And after over a year of... - more "gotta-go-fast!!1" - more pseudo link items (5+ linked gloves/boots/helmets, 7+ linked armors and 2h weapons) - more powerful gems (Earthquake vs Ground Slam, Tornado Shot vs Split Arrow, "Path of More Multipliers") - the whole Ascendancy package - ${insert-Lightpoacher-is-balanced-meme-here} - and now Shaper/Elder stat sticks ...suddenly the game is supposed to be slower, more dangerous, and reward tactical gameplay? Sorry, but that idea's completely naive at best. GGG has even added mechanics that explicitly support or even require fast clearspeed, or at least not reward other styles of gameplay enough: - trials and trap gauntlets where a high mobility/clearspeed is a non-trivial advantage - Breachlord domains that force a certain minimum clearspeed or you fail automatically - Lord's Labyrinth time leaderboard with unique rewards - increasing map boss hit points while not also strongly boosting their rewards (completely skewing balancing in favor of skipping bosses altogether because of the bad risk/reward ratio) - the whole sextant blocking mess and the resulting focus on a handful of linear maps And many players have gotten used to this style of gameplay, with GGG justifying the chosen direction with "this league we had more players than ever before." If you combine this with the lack of necessary changes to especially minion builds - here's the thread from 2012(!!) where different selectable behaviors were discussed to allow switching off minion DPS - you really shouldn't be surprised of players not liking that a gameplay style that was considered viable and actively supported by GGG for over a year now suddenly should be "bad." |
