Bestiary is a complete waste of time

Ive already made 3 ex casually catching and crafting stuff with menagerie.

That isnt counting running maps and trading.

This league is a ton of fun so far.

Some people just cant hang.
The movement+ quicksilver flask recipe is great & is super-easy to do (go to the prison, then go back to ledge & fight the boss). The prophecy stuff is a god-send for SSF. And the unique recipes can be really good. I agree that a lot of the create a rare recipes involve too much chance to be worth it (gotta hope that you get a good base & a good roll).
I don't get the big negativity (aside from the nets being clunky as fuck).

Yeah, you can't braindead run thru the map if you actually want to do bestiary stuff. So, if you don't want to slow down 1-3 times per map (or less, assuming you only go for reds), just don't?

I basically just net the Reds... The yellows tend to fall to quickly but I occasionally throw a net on some stragglers to fill up the "lower" mobs.
I did not make money with it so far but it has given me a few uniques that i still use myself but probably wouldn't ever tought about trading for... So, worth it.
At the end of act 9 I still had a very crappy shield found in act 3-4... so I said ok let's beastcraft a new shield. I wasn't asking for an end game shield.. just an armor one with some life and random defenses. Used the best beasts I had... tried at least 10 times.. all the shields sucked, and those 2-3 that could be usable were on very bad bases. Spent around 15-20 minutes.

Then I went in my hideout, threw an alch on a base of my choice... turned out with a couple of crappy mods, but it also had +20% fire resit and bonus armor, I master crafted +40 life on it and it was already a lot better than all those beastcrafted shields. Spent 1 minute.

The rare crafting recipes need to be revised.
Instead of random bases you should be able to put a base of your chioce on the alter.
Or the crafted mods should be a lot more powerful.

I dont even craft atm... im just leveling my char and farmings mobs.... easy. Some players dont like, some players like that...
Back in the days, PoE was a very slow game. Today, it's a very fast game and people try to "defend" that . "It's an ARPG, for Gods sake, this new expansion doesn't fit". Why? Is there a clause in some contract that says "ARPG has to be fast as fuck, with minimal interaction with the environment"?

I can perfectly understand that some players don't like the league. It's allowed. But just say so. "I don't like it". Using the genre as a reason? Come on. You kill monsters. You craft. You progress. You farm. What exactly doesn't fit the genre?

All the content is perfectly avoidable. You do not have to interact with anything. But for (a lot of) players that actually WANT to interact more with the environment instead of running around like chickens only picking up currency, this may be a good addition. Be glad for them.

Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.
You make a solid point about the immersion in the game and how the meta has shifted over time.

Ultimately, while GGG may not have desired this, the outcome is because of their approach to loot drops and low rate 'crafting' system. In order to find something useful players need to grind an unbelievable amount of monsters to have any chance to find anything decent.

On top of that you add the horrible amount of XP required to level in the higher part of the game and it's no wonder players seek the most efficient method of attaining progress.

I feel that is the biggest influence as to why many dislike this league initiated slow down of the game. It's not because it doesn't have an ARPG feel about it, it's just that it is counter to primary aim of the game in its current state.

If GGG slowed down the pace but suitably compensated players with better loot and improved XP, you'd probably see a greater acceptance. Then again, a lot of players enjoy the insane play speed we have right now.

So, GGG, damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Have you at least spent 5 minutes reading OP post and at least of bunch of other comments?

People here are not complaining that they can't capture becasue they off screen one shot the whole map.

I play on SSF, HC, I don't care for meta, I play at my own speed and welcome any changes/leagues that add something to do besides running at silly speeds mindlessy Killing screens of mobs.

That said, I still find this League very lacking at the moment.
Even if we don't consider the silliness of adding pokmonesque mechanics to PoE, the fact that nets are uninresting items and that capturing a legendary beast is far from being a special moment.. there's still a lot to imrpove.

Crafting is crap, yes there are some good recipes for League starters and some powerful ones for late game... but what about the core crafting... rare items? Beastcrafting rares is just a waste of time, they need to revise all the recipes, the player should be able to decide the base item or to combine at least 2 mods... because as of now the odds to get an usable item are too low.

Chris said that he wanted the player to get his power by beastcrafting this time around... well currently I'm level 75, not a single item I'm using was beastcrafted.
Every time I try to craft something I give up after a bunch of tries and go back to my hideout and craft with regular currency.

There's clearly something not working as planned.

I wouldn't say poe was 'very slow' compared to an average arpg. It was normal speed at the beginning and quite fast in the endgame.

But yeah, I love them 'it's an arpg' cop outs. Usually those quips speak to people's experience (or rather lack thereof) with arpgs. Sometimes I wish those people were forced to play some random arpgs from the past to learn that majority of arpgs were never about going fast, clear speed or density. Just because you've played 3.5 arpgs from the past 5-8 years doesnt mean you can speak on the genre.

Put those people up and force them to do a Diablo 1 (no he'll fire, no mods no patches) playthrough. See how fast they can go. Watch them squirm and scream 'it's not an arpg' and try to reach for Adderall. Force them to play Nox and play through the trap sections. Then watch them scream 'it's not an arpg'.

So, people who actually have played alot of arpgs almost never make that statement. And I'm convinced people who started playing arpgs before Diablo 2, never make that statement.
