It's time to remove the Town Portal scroll

The more compelling argument should be why do you think its so crucial to remove it, especially knowing it currently has function and purpose.

I've already stated my argument against that in the OP. At some point in the game's development your statement was absolutely true, but TP scrolls no longer serve as the limiting factor for players to adopt inventory management and efficient recall timing. That has been replaced by limited portal numbers in maps. And yes, remove the portal gem too.

Well, maybe not remove the portal gem. It will still have some fringe use with Cast on Death.

I kinda like how Diablo 3 handles both portal and identification functions.

You can identify items individually (takes a little bit of time per item, you're immobile during the process and identification can be interrupted) or you can use a device/NPC in town to bulk identify and only have to wait the identification period once. No cost other than identification taking 3 to 5 seconds per item to identify or 3-5 seconds total when using bulk identification service.

The time delay also encourages returning to town to use the bulk service. It's also safer to ID stuff in town since monsters can't interrupt you in town.



Portals would be changed so that you can create a Portal whenever you want at no cost and without needing to equip a Gem in to a piece of gear (costs some time to cast, you're immobile during casting and casting can be interrupted). You still gotta click the Portal after it has been cast to enter it.

In Acts 1-10 you have Way Points, an over abundance of Portal Scrolls and also the Portal Gem, there's not much reason to try & fail to meaningfully restrict the ability these days.

The late game content (maps) restrict how often you can portal out of a zone and then return to the zone, further devaluing the need for Portal Scrolls since at most you'd be using 6 or 8 Portal Scrolls per map and you're very unlikely to find less than that many Portal Scrolls in each map.

And what is the burden of having the scrolls in the game, you take up one inventory slot full of them and pick up on average one per map?

I guess this slows down your clear speed, therefore lets just fuck shit up and remove currency that has purpose.

Other than introducing tedium to the gameplay, what purpose do the scrolls serve? Once you get to Act 3 you are constantly gaining scrolls of wisdom and portal scrolls at a faster pace than you can spend them (if you only ID rare and unique items).

They serve purpose in racing, they serve purpose in early game (certain things cost scrolls\ect) they serve as a transition into the next highest currency, again only REALLY important early, but still having purpose later.

Plus you can't accidentally really click the scroll in your inventory, I mean you can but not the same as just hitting a button.

There are actual issues with this game that are far more important then some dumbass idea that TP scrolls should be removed because they are a relic or something. Like seriously, give me a fucking break and stop wasting devs time on literally one of the dumbest complains I've ever witnessed on these forums.

What do you mean? You click the teleport button and your character does a animation with a progress bar over head filling up over a 3-5 second period before the teleport is cast (like in Diablo 3). Super easy to click and interrupt the highly telegraphed process yourself if you did it by accident.

Also, you don't automatically enter the portal, it just makes a portal like what currently happens. You still gotta click the portal after casting it to enter it.

I'm talking about the instant cast portal scroll replacement button. People will still manage to fuck it up, because you know its not like going thru the steps now.



Plus no one has said why portal scrolls need to go, other then its "outdated" just bullshit responses about games that don't compare.


Plenty of far more important things to talk about, yet lets waste more time talking about portal scrolls because someone cameup with a great idea to remove currency from the game, but no valid arguments to support it.

You're looking at it backwards. If TP scrolls serve no purpose, the only argument I need is "because it's less fun". You keep saying it has a purpose, but you've only stated one good purpose so far and that's as an early progression tool.

While that's a valid argument, you're just flat out refusing to move the discussion further by throwing insults around like a little child. As someone has suggested earlier, this could be worked around by giving players the TP hotkey once Kitava in Act 5 or 10 is defeated.
