Softcore VS Hardcore

Hello Guys lately i had a discussion with a Hardcore Player who claimed himself as 100x better Player as every Softcore Player and i think this is a pretty common that Hardcore claim themself as much better .

But i am Curious how much truth is realy behind this statement.

i realy like watch those Hardcore Streamer

but after a short time its pretty clearly that those player realy rely SUPER HARD on their Logout Macro and Dangerous Maps Never realy appear , i mean isnt that pretty pathetic go Hardcore Modus when you avoid nearly every Challenge possible with those Tools?

I Know that PoE is Pretty terrible when it comes to try to calculate possible dmg as somehow you get hit like 10.000 times like for 100-1000 and then suddenly a 10.000 hit is coming.

but i used to experience Hardcore in Diablo 2 and Hardcore was always like oyu accepting a Challenge and not go intentionally in a Zone which is like Kindergarten level compare to your Gear.


so i mean i would realy like see how Hardcore Player Perform without using Logout macro and Minimum Difficulty Maps.

I don't use logout macro.

The hc streamers you watch right now are playing in the china race. These mods are in every single zone in that race:

40% more Life
20% more DMG
20% more Monster Movement, Attack and Cast Speed
+2 Monster Projectiles
+30% Monster Phys. Dmg as Lightening, Fire and Ice
- 40% Player All Resistance

Even if they put in a blank map it's still harder than anything most sc will ever do.

There is no softcore vs hardcore.

Playing hardcore, or not dying in general in this game, isn't about being a good player as much as it is about picking your content. If you keep running the hardest content and the most brutal mods available you WILL die, no matter how good your build is and no matter how good of a player you are. There is just no way you'll survive the hardest possible for extended periods of time, or as a wise man once said: "In the long run we are all dead".

Therefore, no, hardcore players aren't better than softcore players in general even though most of them have that superiority complex. All they do is run risk free content and avoid everything that could kill them. Surely that requires a certain extent of game knowledge but nothing out of the ordinary. Any SC player who managed to go into even the mid 90s knows those things just as well.

Considering how many times I've died because of technical issues alone in the past few leagues, all I can say for sure is that HC players are way more insane than SC players...

How many supporter packs do you want to bet on this?

Well I don't know - I'm HC player:
This league:
1) Reached lvl 95 in HC
2) I don't use log out macro or bail fights by ALT + F4 at all
3) I have been running lvl 83 Delves - depth 200+
4) I have been running red maps - in alch + go style, if it wasn't super extra beefed to oblivion
5) I have tried to kill uber atziri on HC - I got to her - so killed 2x vaal and trio. Had to bail fight - through portal thou.
6) Before boss HP was buffed I killed Uber Atziri on HC
7) I DO NOT HAVE TRAINING ON BOSSES ON SC BASICALLY AT ALL!!! And that makes playing HC really really hard.

8) And ofc my char finally died to garden projectile spam - because was sleeping when I popped them out :-) :-) :-)

So like thinking that we all do just really really safe contents is just not true.

On the other hand what SC player can tell that he has achieved??
a) Likely those achievements will be in terms of perfecting build (on HC you die sooner)
b) Or economical domination, team play possibly

But in terms of skill with quite unlimited training on SC, it's just not comparable.

OP The average HC player will be better than the average SC player but really its pretty irrelevant.

Plenty of SC players do extreme content and really challenge themselves and they are excellent players.

Plenty of HC players pretend they want to play HC but use a macro to avoid fuckups

We each play what is fun for us, I find it very unsatisfying to play on SC as 6 portals pretty much guarantees victory if you know the game well and don't suck at character development but equally the game has plenty of bugs, lag and total bs mechanics *cough* martyrs with no LoS *cough* that HC is frustrating too.

There are a large number of misnomers about HC players caused by the outward facing view being entirely streamers which gives a skewed perspective but really its just a high consequence game mode.

Maybe we should challenge streamers to play HC - no log out macro and no ALT + F4. If you bail, bail through portal. :-)
