D4 as the antidote. Can ya just stop w/ that plz?
" I'm actually not so sure about the first part - Blizzard used to live from having great goodwill with the general gaming world. A lot of that goodwill has been lost, and it shows on the latest WoW expansion - all the content creators have been trying to hype the hell out of it, giving it glowing feedback, and yet the expansion performed incredibly poorly. D4 might not be the super-hit everyone expects it to be. | |
" Maybe. Who knows. All I've heard and seen so far has been mostly positive. I havent seen anything that would leave us to believe a disaster is imminent in a few months. (And D2R performed quite well) Also the Blizzard library is pretty diverse, which means to say that WoW or Sc can be underwhelming, and Diablo be great. That's certainly possible. Dibalo's appeal is far more encompassing to a wider array of players. Some of the more niche, harcore, PoE players see this as a negative, but its only a negative to them. Not only will there be a high percentage of PoE crossovers, there will be many that that play Diablo that have never played PoE (nor would I recommend PoE to a new player anyways) I think D4 launch and firsf 3 months will be really big, and really well timed. Exilecon might be super awkward if so. "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt." - Abraham Lincoln Последняя редакция: DarthSki44#6905. " And I have no doubt that the POE player base likes many different types of games. The direct competition to POE is not just ARPGs, it's many different genres of games. ALL genres can be competition to POE. Personally I thought D2 sucked. I only played it for a short while. It totally was not my type of game. I don't like ARPGs in general. I don't like any type of action games. So why do I play POE? I have no idea. I know why I decided to give it a try, after clicking away the first couple of times I saw it during beta. But I have no idea why I kept playing once I gave it a try. There was *something* about it that kept me playing. Whatever it was, it had nothing to do with it being an ARPG. The point is, that I think judging the competition for POE so narrowly is a mistake. Almost any game from any genre can be a competition to POE. Gamers are always looking for something new and shiny to get their attention, and it can be just about anything. |

" I would fair that all goodwill has been lost. I used to be in line to buy any Blizzard game on release. Was like that until D3. After D3 debacle and the stench of Activision completely invading the Blizzard titles, my faith in Blizzard to do anything buy try to bilk money out of me has been diminished. Sadly most of my friends who game (we are in our 30's and 40's) all feel the same way. The last innovative thing Blizzard did was Overwatch, but that was more or less just a TF2/CS:Go clone. They have not come up with an original idea in over two decades. I am cautiously optimistic about D4. I am going to buy it, because I have owned every Diablo since the beginning at release. If they screw this up in any way, it will be the last Blizzardo product I ever buy. Diablo is the last vestige for me and their last chance with regards to me as a customer. My friends and I are the people who games try to cater to. We have a FAT budget for gaming. We are the wallet warriors who buy everything when we are having a good time. Losing people like us really hurts the business as we are the ones who spend 10x-100x the amount of the common gamer. I think most people in my age group are like us with regards to Blizzard. We have played their games for decades, and what we saw in the original Blizzard North has all buy faded. This is the last chance they have to retain people like my friends and I. If they screw this up, their revenue pool is going to dumpster. Последняя редакция: Nulledout#3809. Время: 31 янв. 2023 г., 13:46:14

" Virtue signaling and hand-wringing aside, Activision-Blizzard is doing fine, and a 70-billion dollar merger isnt going to hurt investors whenever that goes through (maybe gamers though) D4 ain't getting screwed up, but I suppose that's a qualified statement on what screwed up means to you. You said D3 was a debacle? You do realize how...idk what's the word here...baised and untrue that is? D3 is a great game. Its is one of the most sucessful games ever. And it wasnt just on "name" only. The launch and early D3 was a bit bumpy, but RoS expansion and console editions were wildly sucessful. My friends and I still play the D3 seasons. We are in about the same age group as yours, 35-45, and similarly will all be getting D4. However the difference is definitely in how you enjoy the game itself. We dont power game like Empy's group in PoE, so D4 is likely right up our alley. Low bar to get in, easy to enjoy and understand, fluid combat, roles/characters that make sense. PoE is pretty poor in those categories as a comparison. The market for D4 is massive, and it will show imo. " I do not disagree with most of what you said, although I am not really that biased. Blizzard used D3 has a test bed for WoW RMT with their Auction House. The fact it was not open world at release was a major let down. The disparity of power level of grouping vs non grouping. The game being completely over run by botting. The fact they abandoned the project as soon as they saw they couldn't turn the game into an RMT machine. To me, the game was an abject failure. As for my group of friends, we are all 9-5'ers who have families. We can power game sometime with each other like once a month, but otherwise, it is game when you have time. I appreciate Diablo being WAY more relaxed than PoE. The one positive thing I can say about ALL Blizzard games, is the fluidity of skills and movement. I really do appreciate that from them. It is also something that is hands down better than PoE. In fact, I think I addressed this point in my first post on the first page about 4 replies down. While I think if Diablo nails it, it will send PoE back into the niche hole it came from, I am still cautious because Blizzard makes it, and their number one priority is money. This is a stark difference from the Blizzard North that made Diablo 1. |

" I think D4 will be terrible but trust me there will be millions playing it, POE has never had more than 250 thousand players at a time. Diablo is millions and millions, there are so many blizzard fan boys out there. Even if its complete trash it will be far more popular than POE simply because of the blizzard diablo name. I refuse to even support blizzard anymore, but i can clearly see that they are still popular look at wow for god sake. |
