POE 2 Complete PC Freeze while loading screen
|
Tentatively started the game without poeuncrasher as I heard the problem was fixed for most people since I last played months ago. Played for a few hours with dx12 and although I was concerned with the cpu highs of 84c (9800x3d with an AIO, I play helldivers/cyberpunk with full path tracing and never get that high) the averages were much lower and the total lockups nowhere to be seen.
Until I entered act 2 and not only got a lockup that force restarted my computer but I was greeted with "checking media presence start pxe over ip4" which I have never seen before but apparently happens when the computer wants to boot over the network instead of from the NVME/Hard drive. Killing power and restarting again resolved it but still. Truly amazing that months on this problem seems to have only gotten more spooky, I never failed to boot after the hard crashes at launch, though they were more frequent. I'm not even going to go through the effort of trying all sorts of settings/renderers again as the game itself felt pretty miserable to play and this was just the final push I needed to shelve it again until this issue is finally fixed. As I mentioned earlier I have been playing all sorts of demanding games since I last dropped poe2 with absolutely NO issues. This is entirely a POE2 problem. Here is the error message preceding the crash (I think) [RENDER] Shader uses incorrect vertex layout (shader: 0x00000218 mesh: 0x00000208) Signature: "Metadata/EngineGraphs/base.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/render_default.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/Conversion/render_downscale.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/Conversion/lock_mode.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/Conversion/render_gravity.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/Conversion/face_camera.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/render_transform.fxgraph" "Metadata/EngineGraphs/GpuParticles/render_flip_normal.fxgraph" "Metadata/Effects/Graphs/General/BasicColour.fxgraph" "Metadata/Effects/Graphs/General/FlipbookOld.fxgraph" "Metadata/Effects/Graphs/General/DisableLighting.fxgraph" "Metadata/Effects/Graphs/General/DarkenTex.fxgraph" My specs Ryzen 7 9800X3D ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 64GB RAM Windows 11 Home 24H2 |

Months ago, after Win11 24H2 update I couldn't normally play for an hour straight without a full pc freeze and after finishing the campaign using the github fix I just gave up, but with the new update I could play up to 8 hours straight without any issues and without relying on any workaround, I noticed that during some zone transitions the loading hangs a few seconds longer with a brief higher CPU usage and that was probably a potential CPU lock up prevented by the recent update, so I can safely say the bandaid fix solved the problem for me.

I thought the issue had been resolved with the launch of Dawn of the Hunt, but the new patch has made the game completely unplayable. My computer keeps restarting, and I've already tried BESS, PoeUncrashed, and allocating the CPU in Task Manager. As soon as I launch PoE 2, my PC just restarts. I’m done.

I'm getting 100% CPU usage on loading into zones and whatever I am watching on my second monitor stutters

" Welcome in our world where we all are waitin for fix by GGG. |

I've had this problem since the game released, until I decided to reinstall Windows 11 back to 23H2 in February, which resolved all freezes.
Following a 2-month break, I can confirm that now even 23H2 version causes my PC to freeze during loading screens in Dawn of the Hunt. |

I stopped playing after new years due to this bug. Came back and played the recent patch now, having a blast and no PC freezes yet! Thank you for fixing this tricky bug, GGG.

" This might be an issue introduced in 0.2.0 just for you, but it is definitely an issue that has existed since the game's EA release back in December, and has not been fixed yet for most people. |

I'm having this issue as well, accompanied with CPU utilization spikes. Sometimes the entire system hangs for 2-10 seconds. Sometimes game crashes with it, but not always. System freezes happen even when the game is paused/in town and minimized. I have tried everything i can but nothing has affected it. Tweaking settings, new nvidia drivers, disabling CPU 0, deleting shader cache etc.
I was using the recommended NVIDIA drivers from last December that didn't supposedly have any issues so i doubt it's a driver issue. I also updated them and was still having the issue. I had zero issues like this before the 0.2 patch and now the game is nearly unplayable because these CPU spikes are happening every 1 to 5mins. I'm kinda scared that this could be causing some damage to my cpu because of the constant spiking, so i hope GGG responds to this quickly. Specs: Windows 11 24H2 (26100.3476) <- haven't tried to rolling back to previous version CPU: i5-8600K GPU: 1060 6gb RAM: 16gb Yes very old system, but last patch it was working very fine with 50 fps boosted to 120 with frame gen from lossless scaling software(and no that's not the problem, i have tried with and without). Building a new setup this year when i have the time. |
