I think it will be funny to watch how GGG will try to prolong early game to make game more interesting for those who like this gameplay and at the same time make it as short as possible to make it less annoying for PoE 1 players who wants zoom-zoom.

Imagine Acts 4-6 being longer than 3, lol. MMO stuff there.

There are 3 obvious ways.

1) Make monsters in campaign way less tanky so player could almost 1 shot them. Reduce damage and HP of bosses, or just to not reset their HP after player's death. Completely rework skills — remove all skill interactions and replace most skills with skills viable for 1-button build.

2) Forget bullshit about power fantasy, make endgame as slow and challenging as campaign, or much more challenging. Go with original vision and completely rework endgame to it.

3) Leave it as it is and let everyone hate PoE 2 regardless of their preferences.

If we would bet, I would bet that GGG will go with third way.

If the game mechanics and system are too shaky, so will be the difficulty. (usually devs have a hard time to manage % scaling because they don't have analitic and algorithmic cognitive abilities. So, what they do when they see that players steamroll over their game easily?

They bring up annoyances:

- Xp Loss on Char Death. (They couldn't bring an interesing challenge so they force "Hardcore Mode" on all players.

- Encumbrant Inventory. (proof of previous statement is that they didn't even think through the amount of portal trips a player would have to do to salvage items for shards if you keep a tetris like inventory).

- Honour system to make a part of the game more difficult. (This so lazy that they should do a documentary about it. They couldn't scale a difficulty based on Char HP so they just added a new one. Yeah, facepalm.


This makes the most sense. The game's life already ended with all these bs.

Next time they butcher some dumb items, and the few broken builds people are rocking, no one will play anymore.

But who knows? They might just leave them as is, and only jobless fanboys continue to play.

People have been using loot filters to hide 99%+ of loot (90%+ in PoE 2) since forever. Also, 1 out of 20, 30, 40 drops we see is actually significant in some way if you consider selling to other players. Without considering selling? It can take hundreds of drops for you to get a very minor improvement in a single piece of gear.

They never thought it through and making items significant was never implemented. Having an artificially small inventory makes no sense in 2025 unless they back it up with way less, but way more significant drops.

This was never a game of choices. It has always been a game of numbing grinding, RNG and artificial difficulty.
TLDR: Bumpity Bump Bump.
