The moment you make an extra automated system the game will go 1 step further to become a single player game. And the moment you lose most multiplayer game aspects of the game the game will die as just any other single player games. All these little interactions bad and good, people coming to hideouts, global chat, guild chat, checking for items and services on tft,trade2,3,4 and website. is what makes game feel alive. Like i said every automated system deletes a portion of Life from the game. Many people prefer current trade system over automated trading, you got currency exchange, that's enough as it is.
It doesn't feel super multiplayer to have someone invite you to their party with 0 words spoken, trade you an item, then kick you from the party using a 3rd party plugin, still having said nothing over the course of that interaction. If you find this exchange valuable then please explain why

Step 1) Instead of a whisper, clicking "purchase" from the trade website instantly removes it from someone's public tab and puts it into your inventory (or maybe tab affinity).
Step 2) Done?
I mean, does an AH have to be more complicated than this? Flippers can no longer set low prices on items. Sellers need to learn the value of items to minimize mistakes.
You can still leave a whisper option if you wish to haggle. I can care less if the interface is actually in-game or not.

Yeah I'd love this as well.
Only thing I'd add is that they need some kind of downside to the instant trades, but the gold limitation that has been mentioned would be great!

I think the downside they mentioned is that the gold cost would be significant for the buyer probably some big gold tax or something.

An auction house is the quickest way to turn POE 2 into a P2W game. You have no idea what youre sacrificing in order to have the QOL to have instant buy outs.
You might not like waiting, but once bots control a market they will inflate prices to a point where the average player will no longer be able to afford to buy the items on the auction house, without resorting to buying currency with real money on a third party website by the very same people who control the bots.
Path of exile in china has an auction house, you know what they call that league? the pay to win league. Its not even a nickname, they literally named it the pay to win server. Its either that or SSF.
This will kill the game unless they can solve the problem of an outside industry that uses automation to control the economy. Good luck

You're right to be concerned about bots and third-party markets—those are serious problems. But pretending that instant buyout trading is what creates pay-to-win is missing the mark. The truth is: PoE2 is already pay-to-win, just not officially. I get spammed in-game with whispers from bots selling currency for real money, and even my Google news feed shows ads to buy PoE2 divine orbs and exalts. That’s not a theory—that’s happening right now.
Meanwhile, the current trade system is doing nothing to stop it. Bots already thrive here. They flood the market with listings, never respond, manipulate prices, and force real players to either waste time or turn to RMT just to keep up. It’s already broken.
And here's the kicker: GGG already proposed a solution in their interview with Zizaran (timestamp 1:53:40):
[]Trade would use non-tradable gold as the currency. []Only players who actually play could afford to use the system. []Bots would be limited because they’d have to farm the gold in-game, and couldn’t just trade it across accounts. []Buyers would pay the gold tax, discouraging mass inflation and abuse.
This isn't a “free-for-all” auction house like in mobile games. It’s a curated system that GGG themselves believe they can balance.
Let’s stop pretending the current system is protecting players. It only serves flippers, bots, and price fixers. Everyone else is stuck whispering dozens of listings and praying someone responds.
Instant buyout trading — with gold fees and smart restrictions — would make the game more fair, more playable, and actually harder for bots to exploit.

the degree to which the problem exists matters. Cutting your finger isnt so bad, cutting off your arm is. Right now the friction slows the process down and gives the developers time to react(unique tablet exploit last week ring any bells?). I dont have to pretend that it provides a degree of protection to the player, you can literally google how the auction house has effected the game on the chinese client. There are countless streamers that SHOW you that date back 4+ years that solidify the point.
go look it up.

I know that I'd be willing to compromise. For example I'd be mostly OK with buyouts on everything 1 Div or lower and then using the current system for higher ticket items that would seem more likely be be "unfairly monopolized"

You just described instant buyout trading. Only extra thing would be to move it off the trade site and make it an ingame menu.
