To veterans of PoE1. What made that endgame better?
poe 1 you were free to build, you had synergies in the talent tree and the crafting that helped you create your character, in poe 1 you had many activities, you could make a build for each activity, if you wanted to make yourself an ultimatum you made a specific character and so on for delve delirium heist, honestly in poe 2 they took away all the player's freedom, if you take a look at the builds that are going around for each class you use the same talent tree or with some small changes, the crafting is non-existent, honestly if they put these activities now, they would make the game even worse, the only thing is to wait and see what the devs want to do

I like both games, and I wouldn't say the first's endgame is "better", but different, and obviously because they can't be directly compared. You'd be better off comparing PoE1's beta endgame to PoE2's, and afaik there wasn't an endgame implemented there at all. Literally nothing.
PoE1 in its present state has blighted maps, heist and delve, all things you can do at endgame that aren't standard mapping. Plus in mapping there's abyss, blight, incursion, ultimatum, legion, harbingers, memories and probably more that I'm not remembering. Also whilst mapping, if you like one certain mechanic it's easy to make it be in every map, every time. I like the atlas system of 2, even if it means not being able to shut off brain and run the exact same map over and over. The exploration is interesting. | |
PoE 1 is better in literally every way possible.
To quote the top player...."Why does PoE2 even exist?" |

The pace.
I left diablo because the character movement felt slow and boring. Poe 2 now moves at the same pace. Almost identical. |

" The "number 1 PoE addict" you mean, doesn't like PoE2? What a surprise. PoE2 exists because most people need an improvement to their favorite genres and its doing a fabulous job of adding skill expression and applying more action orientated combat that's in tune with the times. I've never touched PoE1 properly, I have no desire too, I've been playing games since the NES days and Sim City 2000 on a 25mhz PC and standards and demands change, we've experienced some incredible life changing experiences. To me, there was no reason to play PoE1 over League of Legends at the time, none, LoL offered the better immersion, quick gearing and challenge. PoE2 does what POE1 doesn't, difficulty through mechanics and a solid defensive mindset is just as important as offense. Последняя редакция: TrunktenUK#3407. Время: 18 апр. 2025 г., 01:17:57

I have about 2-3k hours in PoE 1 and the engame is exactly the same like in PoE 2 to me. People say that in 1 we have more things we can do but these was added years after release and the only one I actually enjoyed was Delve (endless dungeon) because it was the fastest way to level up.
But the main reason I stopped playing 1 was balancing the whole game around zoom-zoom builds. You either destroy everything in milliseconds or you are screwed. PoE 2 with its slow combat and progression is somethimg I wanted for a long time any I just pray it never become the same bullshit as 1 (even if it's a very good game in many many aspects). So for me adding Delve or some similar mechanic will improve the endgame alot, giving us ability to leave maps for a while and do something else where we can choose difficulty and rewards. " My personal opinion is that it would be better that all those bad things in poe1 do not come to poe2. The bad things are: 1) loot explosions, the loot filling up the entire screen is so horrible that people have to install loot filter to make the loot less visible 2) those characters flying and zooming around 500 metres across the area and into the middle of 100 mobs, and press 1 button, and boom boom boom, everything on the screen gets destroyed We don't need all these nonsense in poe2. poe2 and poe1 are designed to be different games. I would like poe2 to go in a different direction and I am greatly enjoying playing poe2 now. 34pre98qua

That's a good question. Personally, I already really like the end-game in PoE2.
For me, what makes end-game fun in PoE1 as well is that you're not doing stuff to get better loot. You're getting better loot to do more stuff. What I mean is, I enjoy doing Delve or Expedition or Heist, just for the sake of seeing what node I might get next, or what layout I might get, or what kind of treasure I might find, even if it's not necessarily OP. I guess what I mean is, the end-game was fun for me, even without thinking about power progression. Power progression was still there. I usually got my 6L's from Heist. But, the power progression was the means, not the end. That's what makes end-game fun, IMO. In PoE2, I enjoy wandering the atlas map. I think the corruption nexus system and towers are cool systems, and I'm excited to see what the next area might look like. But, if you only value towers for juicing, then yeah, it's frustrating or tedious. I hope that makes sense! Последняя редакция: ac429#4687. Время: 18 апр. 2025 г., 03:13:41

" That is not what he said at all. PoE2 is sweaty period. PoE1 has alot of crap in it, ultimatum , I hate ultimatum here I need to do it. PoE1 if I hate delve, i dont do it, if I have rituals I don't do them. The player can tailor the game to do the aspects they enjoy and bypass things they hate. There is a direction and a path to get there. Because you can craft in PoE1 the means to solve issues are in the players hands. You can see the problem, you can see the solution, now you work toward solving the problem and in doing so successfully feel gratification. PoE2 you are gated. You don't have the gear and there is no means to get it. You don't have a path, you have a lever and you are gonna push that lever like a hamster till that pellet drops. There is no determinism in the game. However the game is designed around determinism, it is balanced so that every player is assumed to have 75% in all resist categories. Assumed that health pool will be 2K at least with 5k ES or 10 or ... All mobs are balanced to the top 10% of gear. Result , you plod slowly getting destroyed by mobs with no end in sight no goal not avenue for success .. keep hitting that lever. Until you get a currency drop .. then what do you do ... You go to a web site . You deterministically pick Fire resist minimum of 30% Cold resist minimum of 30% Lightning minimum of 30% Dexterity + 30 High Evasion High Energy SHield Max required level 70 Max required Dex 95 No Socketed runes Not corrupted and that is how the game is balanced. and that is how drops are balanced . and that is how mobs are balanced. In game you will never get this item for yourself. It's going to cost you 3Ex on the market. to roll this .. would cost 50000000000000000000000000000 Ex. PoE2 is a shopping simulator... SSF is a marathon run though peanut butter. SWEATY. Dont get me wrong PoE2 is a better game potentially. I dont kile the disco ball builds either ... but there are many issues bound to having the marketplace as a consideration ... Removing the players ability to be the creator of kick ass items just led to stockpile cash during campaign ... finish spend = T15 you win .. Последняя редакция: Jitter912#4278.
