I Want To Enjoy This Game, But This is UNBEARABLE!
" 100% agree. If you cannot experiment with builds at your own pace in the campaign then something is wrong. I can almost for certain promise you that these people who says that OP should check vendors and that struggling at lvl 50 is not possible are using a build guide or following a streamer who is playing a meta build. T3+ maps is where you should begin to struggle if you are way off with your build. The problem is that you dont struggle in Poe 2 when your build is off, you run into a brick wall and you have no currency or drops to save it. When a game is this punishing to new players eventually there will only be elitists left and they are not able to finance a project like this in the long run. |

" This is hilarious to me. I'm in SSF playing my own build -- minions of all things, about which there's been endless complaining about this league that they're anywhere from "underpowered" to "literally unplayable". I have zero interest in what streamers are doing. How in the world does suggesting someone to check vendors have anything to do with meta builds or streaming? Use the resources that are plainly right in front of you. | |
" I bet you know what you're doing if you're playing SSF minions. There are people who don't know what they are doing complaining, but their opinions ARE still valid, POE2 is meant to be an accessible title, and the designers have said so themselves that this is meant to be a game much more open to new players. Right now, it isn't. And, there are plenty of players who DO know what they are doing just struggling with the game for various reasons, like not enough currency, bad drops, poor luck gambling, poor shop luck, etc, and sometimes just trying to use skills that are apparently bad, that should NOT be bad because EVERY skill should be viable, not necessarily 'meta' or 'overpowered' or even 'good' but VIABLE. There's just no deterministic way either to fix your build either, and if you mess up too bad and you need to respec and you don't have enough gold then you're simply screwed. |

" If someone truly doesn't know what they are doing and they complain, how does that make sense to you for their opinion to be seen as valid? Isn't the point of a feedback to underline what is working, what is not, and providing what should be changed and how (at least a semi proposal)? What you are describing is having close to no penalty for bad decisions. At the eve of the end

" one of the many reasons why gaming has become shit, perfect example you cant just play any game to have fun, you need to be min maxing efficient so you can cope "iam not wasting my time THAT much playing videogames 24/7, at least iam efficient!" or extreme competetiveness in games that are not made to be competetive, like only use the 1% toxic boring tactic XY because it has the highest winrates. " Because they're not having fun. The goal is to have fun. The game should be fun. The developers, once again agree with this and THEY want the game to be fun. If you're a casual new player, you probably don't know what you are doing, and if you go into many different builds in POE2 without knowing what you are doing, not only are you gonna be disappointed, you are NOT going to have fun. Feedback from every type of player is important so you get a wide range of voices. |

" 100% agree with you. I play SSF too, and the joy for me is still experimenting. That's why I loved PoE1, too. If people feel they cannot experiment without then feeling punished, then the game needs to be tweaked. It's a GAME. It should be for the player's joy, not frustration. " Build identity is crucial for Path of Exile, is completely normal for some builds to not be "good" due to the decisions behind it and consequences attached to those decisions. If content is really overtuned difficulty wise, or poorly balanced around rewards you would see it reflected to a high degree, but is not the case, at least not anymore. Game has been nerfed a lot in terms of difficulty. It's true that some mob types may require a bit of adjustments to the damage output, or their overall stats, but is isolated. Balancing the game around casuality is not what made Path of Exile what is it today. Pushing through and trying to adapt and making things work out is crucial for a game like PoE who rewards knowledge in a generous way. At the eve of the end

" It is actually not completely normal because even if you have a bad build, in POE1, you can make it to maps no problem. Right now if you play a junky bad build, you can't even clear the campaign in POE2. Additionally, I guess you missed the memo which is that the devs are trying to make the game more accessible. They're failing at it right now. They also said they want to cut down on how much 'knowledge' rewards players, they want to make it so new players are on the same level as veterans. If you watched the interview with Zizaran you'd know that. So I stand by everything I said, which is that if you are a new player and you try to play POE2, you're not going to have a good time. Yes, the entire POE cycle of tweaking tinkering and building your build is all classic stuff that everyone likes including me, but that should be the kind of thing you focus more once you either reach endgame, or very near to it. The campaign should be something anyone can clear, while you acclimate to the way your build plays. |
